The Minister of Defence, Ismail Sabri, announced at a press conference today that there will no longer be a 10 km travel restriction rule now that the country has entered a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
The 10 km travel restriction was first implemented at the start of the Movement Control Order in March to prevent the coronavirus from spreading out of a specific area.
Now that Malaysians are allowed to return to work, they have also lifted the travel radius rule. However, the Defence Minister reminds that interstate travel is still not allowed, so permits are still required to travel further than your current state.
Travellers can apply for the permit on the Gerak Malaysia app. Or if the app is not working, they will need to head to their nearest police station to obtain the permit. Be sure to download the permit application form and fill it up to cut your waiting time at the police station short!
