From being a dependable support car for our video shoots to helping deliver aid to flood victims, our very own Perodua Ativa has been steadily racking up the miles.
Approaching the 1-year mark, we have recorded a total mileage in excess of 18k km, and it’s now time to give our "Cik Tiva" some TLC.
We scheduled our service appointment with the efficient people at Perodua Service Sungai Penchala. As always, everything went according to plan and Cik Tiva was hoisted shortly after handing over the keys.
The 18k km service comprises the replacement of the following items:
Engine oil
Engine oil filter
Cabin filter element
Oil drain plug gasket
Besides this, the service centre also inspected the following items:
Water level
Battery charge level
Undercarriage
Tyre pressure
If you’re wondering why we are conducting this service at 18k km, that is because our first oil change was conducted at the 8k km mark (we did not cover the normal 10k km), the subsequent service comes after a further 10k km, hence 18k km.

The service alone took around 40 mins and we were in and out within an hour of dropping off Cik Tiva.
As a side note, whilst at the Sungai Penchala service centre, we got to check out some Peroduas that weren't too lucky during the recent floods.
Having covered many journeys with our trusty Cik Tiva over the past year, we can say we still love it very much.
Though the initial fanfare and novelty of driving the Ativa have worn off (there are so many on the roads now), it still puts a smile on our faces.
It's comfortable (considering its asking price), easily the best riding Perodua on sale, superbly manoeuvrable, and it handles well at speed.
Fuel economy has steadily improved, delivering an overall fuel economy of 6.9 litres/100km over the last 10,000 km, across many drivers and driving styles.
Arvind can't remember a time when he didn't wheel around a HotWheels car. This love evolved into an interest in Tamiya and RC cars and finally the real deal 1:1 scale stuff. Passion finally lead to formal training in Mechanical Engineering. Instead of the bigger picture, he obsesses with the final drive ratio and spring rates of cars and spends the weekends wondering why a Perodua Myvi is so fast.
