This here is the 2024 Isuzu D-Max BEV (battery electric vehicle) concept that's just made its debut in Thailand today. Don't let the concept nature fool you – this, like the D-Max MHEV concept too – are close to reality.

In the case of the D-Max BEV, Isuzu says production for export markets will commence in Thailand as early as by 2025, and will launch in the UK, Australian, and Norwegian markets by the same year. Roll out to other countries will be based on "needs and maturity of the charging infrastructure".

Under the hood of the D-Max BEV is a dual-motor system with a maximum combined output of 176 PS and 325 Nm, linked to a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery. Range and charging capacities will be clarified at a later date.

The drivetrain is a full-time 4WD system, and despite having a relatively low top speed of 130 km/h, Isuzu says it can still pull loads with its 3.5 tonne towing capacity, and 1 tonne loading capacity.

It also employs a De Dion suspension array that is said to be lighter and aids with extra stability through the turns.

This is the second BEV pick-up truck shown in Thailand in recent time; the first was the Toyota Hilux BEV in 2022, showing an inevitable trend in the segment.
