Joining the ranks of carbon-reducing pick-up trucks is this new 2024 Isuzu D-Max Hi-Lander Mild Hybrid (MHEV) concept, that's just been unveiled in Thailand ahead of next week's Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS).
It's not a reality just yet, but the idea is sound and to be honest, it doesn't look that far off from production. Under the hood is the 1.9-litre Ddi Blue Power turbodiesel, paired to a small electric motor on the front of the engine and a 48V battery.

Powertrain figures nor specifications haven't been shared at the moment, but a regular D-Max with the 1.9-litre engine makes 150 PS and 350 Nm. This is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all 4 wheels (4WD) or the rear wheels (2WD).
Since this is based on the facelifted model, it benefits from an improved ADAS suite which is now aided by a wider and more advanced 3D Imaging Stereo Camera with 2-point radar and 8-point sensor system. Some new features added including pedestrian detection with automatic braking, Turn Assist with AEB as well as adaptive cruise control (ACC) with Stop-and-Go.

As for the pricing, we'll have to wait a while. Isuzu Thailand says this is still a 'proof-of-concept' for now, and are in the process of surveying the market putting it through production. That said, it may not be too far fetched anyway - electrified trucks are coming into the market, and there's also the facelifted Toyota Hilux MHEV that's gone on sale in a few markets worldwide.
