This weekend will be the final two days of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia’s Raya Offers campaign (ends 30-April 2024) for the Mitsubishi Triton.

The promotion is offered to all six variants of the Thailand-made Triton, including the ‘low-rider’ 4x2 Triton Quest MT.

Buyers of the highest specifications Triton 4x4 VGT Athlete, which starts from RM 155,900, can enjoy up to RM 11k in cash rebates.

Buyers can choose between three options:

• Cash rebates up to RM 7,000 or
• Wheels upgrade for only RM900* + RM 3,000 cash rebate or
• Low interest rate for only 0.88%*p.a. flat + RM 2,000 cash rebate

Whichever option you choose, you will still enjoy an additional:

• RM 2,000 Duit Raya
• 2-year free service

If you are an existing Mitsubishi owner, or is a government servant, you get even more rebates.

Existing owners will get an additional RM 2,000 rebate, while government servants are entitled RM 1,000 discount. If you are working in the civil service and already own a Mitsubishi, you can choose one of the two rebates, but not both.

A new generation 2024 Mitsubishi Triton will be launched soon, which explains the promo above. However, if prices in Thailand are a reliable indicator, expect the new model to be around 11 percent more expensive (for Triton Athlete variant) than before.

In Japan, the new generation Triton is priced higher than a Toyota Hilux GR Sport.

The new model features better sculpted seats for improved comfort, a new cabin design that offers better outward visibility, and a new ladder frame that’s 60% more rigid than before.

The new 4N16 engine now makes 204 PS / 470 Nm engine, while the Triton’s signature Super Select 4WD-II now has seven drive modes (two more than before) and receive a rally-derived Active Yaw Control (AYC) feature borrowed from the Lancer Evolution.

Of course, the newer truck is better in every way, but it will also be more expensive.

Bargain hunters who don’t mind not having the newest truck, and are simply looking for a proven work tool that they can also use for leisure, won’t go wrong with the outgoing generation 4N15 engine-powered Triton.
