Massive sinkhole along Jalan U-Thant! Avoid Ampang Hilir at all cost!

If you’re driving around Ampang Hilir, we suggest avoiding Jalan U-Thant entirely as we’re predicting a massive traffic jam forming around the area, no thanks to a deep watery sinkhole.

The huge sinkhole is located right next to a condominium at 16, Jalan Taman U Thant, Taman U Thant, Kuala Lumpur. Thankfully, the sinkhole did not affect the residents of the condominium though the sinkhole damaged the compound wall and road.

A Telekom cable pole and a few trees almost fell into the sinkhole. Photos also revealed that there is also water accumulated within the sinkhole.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) was quick to address the issue. According to a post uploaded on their Facebook page, the incident occurred at around 3.35 pm on Sunday 19th July.

The sinkhole is suspected to be caused by the rainy weather that we have been experiencing recently.

At the moment, the DBKL Rescue Squad have decided to close off the area due to safety issues. They have also informed Air Selangor of the situation so the agency can carry out the necessary procedures to aid the council in repairing the road.

DBKL has also advised to avoid visiting the area and, if you’re already in the area, adhere to the temporary signages that DBKL has set up.
