Perodua has confirmed that the next-generation Perodua Alza (D27A) will be their next model launch that is happening in 2022.
Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad, Perodua President and CEO said at a Perodua Myvi media event that the company is studying when is the best time to introduce the next-gen Alza but it is confirmed to be in 2022.
Research and development of the next-gen Alza are now in its final stages of testing and pilot production.
Although Perodua chief stopped short at revealing the technical details, we can expect the new Alza to be based on the new Toyota Avanza and Daihatsu Xenia.
Both cars ride on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform and are front-wheel drive only.
In Indonesia, the Avanza and Xenia get two naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine options – 1NR-VE 1.3-litre (98 PS/121 Nm) and 2NR-VE 1.5-litre (106 PS/137 Nm). Both are paired to either a D-CVT automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual.
