Customers of the Japan-market 2024 Honda WR-V, which is set to go on sale in the country beginning 22-March 2024, will be facing long wait times stretching up to eight months, reports portal Creative311.
The eight-month timeline is across all variants of the WR-V, though the site also says that it could stretch up to 1 year, owing to a 'perfect storm' of situations that the model finds itself in.
The good news is most of the interest comes from customers who previously looked at the Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky; dealers share that customers gravitated towards the Honda after production of both the rivalling models were halted following Daihatsu's safety scandal.
Adding to that is the WR-V's strategic price range (JPY 2.1 million to JPY 2.5 million, ~RM 68k to ~RM 81k) and healthy breadth of features, which includes an electric parking brake and the full complement of the Honda Sensing driver aids.
On the flipside, since this model is imported from India (where it's sold as the Honda Elevate), constraints in production and shipping over to Japan means supply will be a little tight, with one dealer saying they are only able to receive "1 unit in every 1 to 2 weeks". Owing to that, demo cars aren't available in the meantime too, not until its launch in March.
