With prices starting from RM 207,808, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one of the best-looking BEV models on sale in Malaysia. The only gap in its specifications sheet is the omission of Hyundai’s Bluelink connectivity, meaning that owners cannot remotely monitor / control the vehicle’s charging, or enjoy the benefit of over-the-air (OTA) updates for the car’s infotainment.
To be fair, its sister-car the Kia EV6 also misses out on Kia Connect.
Across the Straits of Melaka, Hyundai Indonesia has now upgraded its Ioniq 5 range with Bluelink. There is, however, a small 1.5 percent in price (IDR 11,000,000 up for all variants).

Interestingly, Indonesia’s Bluelink app supports not just English, but Bahasa Indonesia!
The Bluelink app allows users to:
- Remote Start & Stop Climate Control
- Remote opening and closing of charging flap
- Charging Port Connection Status
- Monitor battery charge level, pre-set maximum charging limit
- Get notified when charging is complete
- Monitor the car’s energy consumption
The updated Bluelink-integrated map / infotainment now allows users to:
- Search for nearest public charging station
- Map out radius of reachable destination based on current EV driving range
- Last mile navigation – after vehicle is parked, the destination is sent to the user’s Bluelink app, works up to 2 km away from the vehicle’s parking spot
- Connected routing – provides estimated time of arrival based on traffic conditions
- OTA update for maps
- Voice command for Bluetooth telephone control
The Indonesian market Hyundai Ioniq 5 is available in 4 variants – 2 battery sizes, 58 kWh and 72 kWh, each available in Prime and Signature trims. Prices range from IDR 759,000,000 to IDR 870,000,000 (~RM 231k to RM 265k).
In Malaysia, Hyundai Sime Darby sells the Ioniq 5 in three variants:
- Ioniq 5 Lite (58 kWh): RM 207,808
- Ioniq 5 Plus (58 kWh): RM 238,408
- Ioniq 5 Max (72 kWh): RM 270,408
