Just yesterday, we reported that the all-new 2022 Honda HR-V was spotted testing on Malaysian roads, now more photos have surfaced online and they come accompanied with videos as well.
Posted on the Proton X50 Community Malaysia Facebook group, the camo-covered HR-V was seen prowling around the MRR2 and even going through a toll.
The B-segment SUV is one of two all-new models that Honda Malaysia has slated to launch this year.
Malaysia is also expected to be one of the first countries to launch the HR-V with a VTEC Turbo powertrain alongside the i-MMD petrol-electric hybrid powertrain after the world debut in Indonesia.
As for how long more do we have to wait for the all-new Honda HR-V to launch on our shores, we can only look to Indonesia as the i-VTEC turbo was expected to launch on 17 February 2022 in conjunction with the Indonesia International Motor Show’s (IIMS) opening.
However, the IIMS has since been postponed to 31-March-2022 due to Covid-19, so, expect the launch in Malaysia to be pushed back to later this year as well.
To recap, the i-MMD hybrid HR-V utilises a 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to two electric motors. The powertrain has a combined output of 131 PS and 253 Nm. Claimed fuel consumption is 25.6 km/litre (or 3.9-litre/100 km).
Meanwhile, the turbocharged i-VTEC engine is rumoured to be a similar unit as the Honda Civic, Honda CR-V, and Honda Accord but power figures are expected to be lower.
