ford ecosport parts Q&A Review

Which car is better, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza ZDI Plus or the Ford EcoSport Trend Plus (Diesel)?

Edit: Thank you all for the Upvotes guys. So let me start by telling you the below which is my own personal opinion. *At the end if you like the information and find it useful, then please upvote* Engine used in Swift, Ignis, Swift Dzire, Baleno, Ciaz, Ertiga, Scross and Brezza are essentially the same which is the Fiat designed Multijet diesel (now discontinued) which Maruti produces in their factory in Haryana. The engine is virtually the same since 2008 and has only once got an emission upgrade from BS3 to BS4 in 2010. The only difference in the above vehicles is the turbo which Maruti fits along with the engine which is bigger in the larger vehicles thus enabling it to produce more BHP. Apart from that the mill is the same which has been doing the run for the money since 2008. I have owned a swift for 8 years almost (now sold) and i have grown up virtually with the Multijet DDIS Fiat engine therefore i can confidently say that Maruti is making a lot of money by fitting the tiny 1300cc engine in cars ranging from 5 lacs till 13 lacs which is ridiculous to me. The engine is trustworthy and reliable backed by their extra large so called service network. After selling Maruti i moved to the Ford Aspire 1.5 diesel which produces 100BHP of power which is more than any vehicle in this class. The engine is derived from a Peugeot diesel engine framework. The Ford drives much better in bumper to bumper traffic (New Delhi) and is a joy to drive both in start stop and highway traffic. Ecosport is owned by many of my friends and driven extensively by ME along with my own Ford Aspire which has the same engine is a generation apart from Maruti vehicle. Let me also tell you that Maruti is more expensive to maintain than Ford these days. The cost of service is cheaper at Ford. Gear oil used in Ford Aspire/ecoport is sealed for life, essentially never to be replaced. I suppose the life is 120000kms as per my understanding. Maruti wants it to be replaced every 20k kms, some newer versions have it at 30k kms. It costs 1300 bucks to replace. Brake fluid is replaced every 20k kms in Maruti whereas Ford is 30k kms. Costs 600–700 bucks. Coolant is replaced in Ford at 1,60,000 kms or 5 yrs whichever is earlier and in Maruti at 20k kms or 2 yrs. Maruti fills the cheaper green coolant still, Ford uses the Red colored one with longer life. Maruti charges 450 bucks plus labour for filling up the coolant. Some might argue that changing the coolant frequently prevents rusting in radiator. So essentially, we believe in filling the cheapest and lowest grade coolant and keep replacing it just to prevent rusting. I understand labour is cheap in our country but my pocket is not growing deeper. Cost of one front headlight (complete set with bulb) is 2850 inclusive tax for Ford Aspire and its way above for the Swift, not sure exactly how much (approx 4000+) AC filter comes pre fitted in the Ford vehicle from the factory and costs Rs. 163/- inclusive TAX (see image below-2020 price) whereas Maruti costs above Rs.350/- for the Swift. Ford and Maruti do not charge labour to replace. Ford now sells baby parts for vehicles like Toyota does. You do not need to buy complete side mirror set if only the mirror is broken or stolen, you can buy only the mirror while using the outer old shell. The dealer might fool you into buying the whole set but you got to be adamant if you are aware. It saves a lot of money. Ford service costs me Rs.4500/- including all taxes without alignment and balancing on bill at Ford authorised service center. Swift i drove for 80000kms and never costed me below 8500, sometimes going upto 12500 also (including balancing - steel wheels and alignment) Maruti recommends Synthetic oil for BS4 diesel engines (costs 900 bucks to a litre, swift swallows 3.1 litres) as per the circular at Maruti service center however Ford uses normal Semi-Synth oil. Keeps the costs lower. Even Toyota does not use fully synth oil as regular service. Ford engine oil costs 1200 bucks approx for 3.8 litres in total. Ford is a drivers car, more fun to drive has the drivers DNA, Maruti Brezza has a tiny engine compared to its size and does not feel powerful even on a open stretch of road. Now to be honest.. I had driven my Swift Diesel for 80000+kms I have driven my Ford close to 18k kms (now in 2020, crossed 32k kms) I have driven my cousins Brezza for approx 5k kms with 2 trips to Jaipur from Delhi and mind you, i cannot beat a Scorpio with a Brezza, but the Ford is easier to keep Scorpios in the rear view mirror. My experience of mileage figures- Swift mileage in city- 19–22kmpl. Highway - 23–25 kmpl Ford Aspire- 18–20kmpl city. Highway - 25–30 kmpl (really this is true if you drive between 80–100kmph) Ford Ecosport- 15–19 kmpl city. Highway- 22–24kmpl (keeping it below 100 kmph). Brezza city running- 17–19 kmpl. Highway approx 23kmpl. I do not work for any of the brands mentioned above nor am i endorsed, this is only my personal opinion. One last thing- Ford is very pro-customer. I complained for Tyre noise (original tyres MRF) and they replaced 4 of them under warranty to Michellin without a fuss. I just beared the difference as warranty was limited to price of Apollo or Goodyear which they were offering, damage to my pocket 1200 bucks for all 4 including taxes. You just need to know the correct ways to get in touch with Ford for redressal. Please upvote if you find this helpful and comment below if you need any further questions to be answered. I will be happy to help you based on my personal experience. Hope this helps your decision. Edit: Maruti has discontinued the Ignis Diesel due to o very low market demand.

Have bank PO jobs lost their charm?

No, one of my friends is in Canara and recently he bought Ford ecosports sports edition worth 13.5 lakhs. He is 28 and has been working for 4 years as PO. Yeah as per him his job is worse but at least bank pays him to maintain his standard. He remarked he has to pay to only 6K emi at si as compared to 13K emi at ci if this loan was taken by someone else. Also the amount of transactions that happen is overwhelming and it is expected from him to help everybody ranging from filling random forms to attesting drafts, clearing cheques with utmost clarity. Now majority of time he has to deal with customers who can’t even do a signature but is in dire need for some amount. Now what can he do? He can’t just soo them away. He has somehow to help him. That is why he has to be versatile. He doesn’t complain much. It’s all part of his job.

What is your opinion about buying a Ford EcoSport Trend diesel, considering that Ford recalled 5,000 EcoSports because of faulty parts in July 2018?

I would avoid any Ford product that has any recalls or major problems. That kind of rules out all of their vehicles. Ford pushes out cars and trucks with parts of lesser quality. These opinions come from experience with their products. They have a very loyal following that ignores the fact that some parts of features of their vehicle doesn't work properly. Some people have had a great experience with Ford, but I haven't and would avoid at any cost.

Why is my Ford made in Brazil and not the USA? What's wrong with Buffalo, Utica, Springfield, Philadelphia, etc.?

The only Brazilian car that Ford sells in the US is the Ford Ecosport. The Ford Ecosport is a subcompact SUV created ,specially ,for the Brazilian Market, in part because the SUVs that Ford sells in the US are too large and too expensive for Brazilians in general. (Many Brazilians that want large and more expensive SUVs buy it from North America) So, that’s the answer: if there is demand for a subcompact SUV among Americans Ford is probably going to manufacture Ecosports either in the United States or in Mexico. Until then, there is no demand for subcompact SUVs in the North American market to justify Ford building a US plant for the Ecosport.

Are Ford EcoSport spare parts really costly?

Ecosport being a popular and very successful car from Ford and sold in large numbers so their parts also manufactured in large quantities. When manufactured in large quantity they will be at par with competitors in same segment, may be Brezza. The maintenance cost of Ecosport is lower than Brezza. Especially brake shoe, battery and suspension parts are made by MotorCraft which Ford owns it. These are made in Malaysia and other sited supplied all over world, so you get same quality everywhere. They really last long. For my Figo i used to change break shoe 50k km. Even battery ladtwd 6years. I would suggest you to take Gold package plan(multiple service) when there is 10 to 15% discount and stay relaxed for next 3 services. Its a very good offer from Ford itself.

Is it worth it to buy a Ford EcoSport diesel in 2020?

It is an amazing car which is very reliable and with least maintainence, I have traveled all over india in it and by far it is the the most beautiful and reliable car that I have owned with amazing features and a very powerful engine with best in class handling and steering feedback. It has an amazing suspension setup which is not too stiff like the breeza not too soft like the nexon it has an amazing and we'll tuned suspension setup. Buying ecosport was by far the best decision that I have made. Completely worth each and every penny you pay for it My beast recently completed 2,30,000 kms and is still soo strong I am planning to do atleast 4,00,000kms before I part with it. My is the petrol at 1.5 liter and I was stunned about how reliable the auto gearbox is. I have driven my friends diesel ecosport 2019 model from Bangalore to shimla and believe me it is a total beast altogether it is at parties with the ecosport patrols performance

Which is the best car between EcoSport and Brezza?

Ford Ecosport is better than Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in most departments. I own a Ford Ecosport diesel since 2017, and one of my friend owns a Brezza since 2018, we are daily users and exchange our thoughts about our cars frequently. My car has run 47k+ kms in 3 years and his around 35k+ in 2 years, both cars are regularly serviced and maintained. Now when we compare the cars mine have a 1.5L diesel mill while his 1.3L DDiS are not not exactly comparable in terms of power, his 90 BHP engine cannot compete with my 100 BHP. Build quality is better in Ford with heavy doors and overall fit and finish, fiber quality, and overall exterior and interior parts. Brezza is typical maruti with average fit and finish and plastic feeling to the interiors. To experience this difference you have to sit back to back in these 2 cars. Coming to ride quality, Ecosport is on the harder side with superb handling, braking and steering feedback. This is a bigger vehicle you can actually drive like a hatchback and corner effortlessly, body roll is there though. Brezza rides soft but not inspiring in the corners and steering is on the dull side. My car returns a 18 KMPL average in mixed conditions while his brezza around 19 KMPL. On highways Brezza excels with 20+ figures sometimes touching 22–23KMPL, while highest I have got is 21KMPL, this is partially due to the engine size. Service from Ford is at par with Maruti and we both are satisfied with the vehicle service centers we opt for. My car wins the comparo in the end when my friend agrees that Ecosport is the car he would like to recommend to everyone. I feel like a King…!!

What is the actual mileage of a Ford EcoSport petrol version?

I own a Titanium Petrol Version top model of year 2017. I drive on Ahmedabad roads. Traffic in Ahmedabad is too heavy. Ahmedabadis have zero or subzero driving sense. Traffic is bad and road conditions are pathetic with 6 inches deep potholes very common in most part of the city. Now with this road and traffic condition, I get 11.5 kmpl in city. I took the car to Goa and with full AC on, with a total trip of 2750 km, the mileage was 17 kmpl. Goa too has narrow roads and lot of gradient so I had to drive most of the time on 2nd or 3rd gear. Yet the overall mileage was greater than 17 kmpl. On Ahmedabad to Baroda Expressway, I have tested the mileage 5 times and every time, it was between 17 to 18 kmpl with an average speed of 100 km/hr. Ford Ecosport is not for those who calculate money. This car is for people who want great performance, safety and comfort. Its low on fuel economy and great on performance and safety. This review is after using the car for 1 year. I recommend Ford Ecosport to all those who are passionate about road trips, those who love driving. Hope, this helps.

Should I go for Vitara Brezza (5 month waiting period & cheaper plastics) or ford ecosport (costlier, less reliable & expensive after sales service)?

Less reliable car 😂😂😂 what a joke. The ford ecosport comes with amazing reliable to the core engine and also an amazing automatic gearbox. My father recently sold his breeza due to the unbearable plastic rattling sounds at just 70,00kms. My ford ecosport has just completed 2,30,000kms and is still soo reliable and strong that I planning to do atleast 4–5 lakhs kms before I finally part with it. Mine is a petrol automatic and I was stunned by how reliable the auto gearbox is, I have owned cars like Honda civic, Hyundai sonata, innova 2.5, and currently own a fortuner 4wd manual but the ecosport has proved to be less expensive to service and more reliable of them all This is the mileage I get in bangalore city traffic which is the worst traffic city in the world, I travel from indranagar to anekal everyday. I travel regularly between Bangalore to dharamshala, once I wanted to test the car limits and as 3 people where there in the car who could drive, We completed the trip in just 30 hours continuous driving only stopping for petrol as we already had packed food with us. Ford has made heavy localization of their parts and it is cheaper to maintain than a breeza also it is more reliable too. Ford ecosport costs more than the breeza due to the following reasons Tougher build quality, it is built like a tank and lasts the same way too Best suspension setup, it is not too hard like the brezza’s suspension nor is too soft like that on the nexon, perfect balance between comfort and driving pleasure. Biggest boot carrying capacity in the segment at 352 liters boot space. Best steering feel and feedback in the segment, ford is known for their amazing steering all around the world. Ford has a prestige and American toughness associated with it unlike the soo called tin can maruti company. Highest water wading capacity in its category, no need to worry about water filled roads anywhere, infact it has a higher water wading capacity than big premium cars like audi q3, bmwx1, jeep compass, vw tiguan, skoda kodiaq, mahindra thar etc Best in class infotainment with most advanced features like vallet mode, 7 colour ambient colours, etc Unmatched ride and handling balance, it has mini Cooper like driving dynamics which will amaze you when you go pedel to the metal. Most stable car at high speed in it catogary, you will stay glued to to the road even at speeds of 180kmph wich is very confidence inspiring , due to this factors it does pitch on bad road like the brezza does. It has the largest ac compresser in its segment which cools the car in no time, even if you park the car at 45 degrees heat under the sun, once you switch on the ac the car cools within just 2–3 minutes to chill the whole cabin whereas brezza and nexon take more than 10–15 minutes to chill the whole cabin. I think these 10 points are enough to prove its premium price tag over its rivals. Buying ecosport is not like buying any other car you bring home a Unmatched relationship.
