Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen AG signed agreements that expand their global alliance on 10 June 2020. Through the alliance, Ford and Volkswagen will leverage on their complementary strengths in midsize pickup trucks and commercial and electric vehicles.

The alliance will produce a medium pickup truck engineered and built by Ford, for sale as the Volkswagen Amarok starting 2022.
A city delivery van will be based on the latest Caddy model, developed and built by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. A 1-ton cargo van will be created by Ford.

Ford will be utilising Volkswagen’s MEB architecture in Europe. Volkswagen and Ford plan to explore additional ways to cooperate on electric vehicles.
Additionally, both companies will work with Argo AI for an autonomous-vehicle businesses.
The Volkswagen/Ford alliance does not include cross-ownership between the companies, which will remain competitors in the marketplace.
