Ford Everest gets a Raptor-esque, custom makeover

What do you do if you own a Ford Everest but want yours to stand out from the rest? Perhaps you can completely change the look of your car to mimic the iconic Ford F-150 Raptor, just as Thailand’s TTN Hypersport did.

The Ford Everest is based on the platform as the Ford Ranger pickup, just as the Toyota Fortuner is to the Toyota Hilux. It’s a bit hard to spot the Everest in Malaysia because its rather pricey.

For example, the base Everest starts at RM 228,888, while the range-topper sells for RM 258,888. Meanwhile, the base four-door Ranger variant (XL 2.2L Manual High Rider) retails for RM 95,888

But why is the Everest way more expensive, when its essentially just a Ranger with a trunk and more seats? Well, that’s due to our tax and excise duty structures. The Ranger is cheaper because excise and import duties are not imposed on it, in accordance to the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement. Considering all that, TTN Hypersport’s visual upgrades should do the trick for most of us.

If you really want the best, then have we got a deal for you. Local dealership Hamawangsa has a few Sutton CS 3500 for sale – essentially souped up versions of the F-150 Raptor specially made for our markets. Assembled in Gurun, Kedah, these cars are converted to right-hand drive by the Clive Sutton Bespoke division.

No, they’re not cheap, commanding RM 780,888 a unit. How’s that sound?

I write about cars, I take pictures of cars, I collect diecast cars, and I go home only to play with more cars online. If I'm not doing all these then I'm shovelling money into my 7th-gen Celica project, @twojetjet.
