The Proton X70 Premium 2WD sold in Malaysia is powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged direct-injection 4-cylinder petrol engine linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine pushes out 184 PS and 285 Nm of torque. This Premium variant is front-wheel drive only.Although it has the worst power-to-weight ratio among other SUVs in the same class and output, the X70 does not feel underpowered to drive. The Proton X70 is currently the most popular SUV on sale in Malaysia. In terms of size, the five-seater Proton sits in the same segment as the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Nissan X-Trail. However, its starting price of RM 99,800 also means that it’s actually priced closer to a lower range Honda HR-V, making it the most value for money SUV on the market. There are a total of four variants to choose from, all using the same powertrain.Specifications for Proton X70: Engine: 1.8-litre four-cylin

Proton has kicked off the final quarter of 2019 on a high with a record 9,503 in sales. This brings the number of sales in 10 months of 2019 to 79,833 units both export and domestically. The successful sales volume meant that the brand saw a growth rate of 46% year-to-date.This is a remarkable achievement for Proton considering that the Total Industry-Volume (TIV) has shrunk by 1.3%.This puts Proton's market shares of the year at 16% which is a healthy increase of 5.2% over the previous year.
