With the automotive industry reopening and showroom businesses resuming, sales are returning to normal. The month of September 2021 is a historical month for Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) as the Mitsubishi Triton has achieved a new sales record.

With the recent reopening of the automotive industry since the lockdown dated from June 2021, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) is currently fulfilling the accumulated backlog orders, and successfully delivered a record high of 1,521 units of the Triton. That figure accounts for a 34% market share within the pick-up segment for the same month.

Compared to last year, the Mitsubishi Triton sales performance increased by 5.1% within the first half (April-Sept 2021) of Mitsubishi’s 2021 financial year.

There’s more good news for the Three Diamonds as the company’s market share increased to 3.9% in the first half of 2021 from 1.9% in the same period last year. With a total of 6,907 units sold so far, Mitsubishi remains in the top three non-national automotive brands in Malaysia in terms of total industry volume (TIV).

Besides the Triton taking over as Malaysia’s new king of pick-ups, Mitsubishi also has another market leader in its line-up. The Xpander is Malaysia’s best-selling non-national MPV with close to 13,000 bookings made and 5,756 units delivered since its launch in November 2020.

“After a few months of challenging market situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns, the team at Mitsubishi Motors is working with our best efforts to improve production, delivery timing, and to recover from backlog orders fulfilment for the Xpander and Triton,” said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

He also added that MMM will be announcing a home delivery service for customers who have purchased a Mitsubishi to have their brand-new car delivered to their doorstep to ease customers’ convenience in shopping online.
