In a rather surprising change of development, it seems like Perodua could continue to use the Alza nameplate for its D27A 7-seater MPV after all. The new 7-seater MPV is slated to be launched in Malaysia in a couple of months' time.
According to our friends over at Funtasticko, they spotted that Perodua has extended the Alza trademark till 1-June 2029. Funtasticko went on to say that it is rather surprising that Perodua would extend the Alza’s expiry date till 2029, seeing that the outgoing model will be phased out by April.
This is a complete 180 from our earlier article speculating that Perodua could potentially adopt names like Axeda, Lasaq, or Impax for its new 7-seater MPV.
As a brief refresher, Perodua has extended production of the outgoing Alza till end-April, partly due to high number of outstanding orders carried over from last year.
Perodua’s CEO and President Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad mentioned that it will be a seamless transition between the old and new model, hinting that the all-new model, codenamed D27A, could arrive some time in May or June.
The all-new Perodua Alza is a twin model to the equally-new Toyota Avanza (likely to be sold here as the Veloz), mirroring a similar arrangement like the Perodua Aruz and Toyota Rush.
