An earlier report stated that the all-new next-generation Peugeot 5008 will be revealed in 2H 2023, but it appears that the timeline has since been moved to next year.
CFO of the Stellantis Group, Natalie Knight, said that the next-generation Peugeot 5008 is scheduled for a launch in the European market in August 2024. This was revealed during a third-quarter results call, Automotive News Europe reports.
Knight stated that it would be one of the most important model launches for the company in the coming year, alongside the Peugeot 408 all-electric version, known as the e-408.

Back to the SUV, electrification is emphasised as the both the upcoming 5008 and 3008 will be primarily introduced as battery-electric vehicles (BEV) β the E-3008 and E-5008.
The E-3008 is said to be unveiled first, followed by the E-5008. The E-3008 will be the first model that sits on the new STLA Medium platform. The STLA Medium is one of the four future Stellantis Group "BEV-by-design" platforms, but it is also able to accommodate internal combustion engines.
Peugeot is also introducing a new mild-hybrid (MHEV) 48V system, featuring a next-generation PureTech petrol engine with 100 PS or 136 PS options, coupled with a 6-speed electrified dual-clutch gearbox (E-DCS6) that incorporates a 21 kW electric motor.
This MHEV system is expected to result in a 15 percent reduction in fuel consumption. Interestingly, it allows for full-electric mode in urban use, albeit for short distances of up to 1 km.
Peugeot anticipates that approximately half of 3008 sales in the European market will comprise electric vehicles (EVs). Linda Jackson, the CEO of Peugeot, has expressed the company's commitment to exclusively offering full-electric cars in Europe by 2030.
As for the current-generation Peugeot 3008 and 5008, both are locally assembled (CKD) at the Kulim plant in Kedah, priced at RM 170,288 and RM 186,288 respectively.
