Ever since Perodua announced that bookings for the new 2022 Perodua Myvi facelift were opened last week, Malaysia’s No. 1 automaker has been busy on its social media. There seems to be a new teaser posted once a day and over the weekend, another short video was uploaded, this time showing off the bumper designs.
In the 11-second clip, we get a clearer look at the grille design, the LED headlights, as well as the front and rear bumper designs.
A couple of weeks ago, we had published spyshots of the Myvi facelift and the design mirrors that of what is seen in the teaser clip. The redesigned LED headlights are similar to that on the Perodua Ativa, which could possibly hint at adaptive LED headlights being available on the higher variants of the Myvi.
Upon closer look of the front bumper, the Myvi facelift sports Perodua’s corporate face which combined with the vertically-placed DRLs, makes the King look a little bit like a baby Aruz.
At the rear, we can see the bumper gains a pair of vertical trim pieces on both sides, mirroring the front bumper’s design. It’s also worth noting that the Myvi facelift shown in the teaser uses the same wheel design as the pre-facelift.
There is also a quick glance of the updated King’s interior and the red accents that were seen on the dashboard and the instrument gauges continue on the seats. This could likely be the top-of-the-line 1.5 AV variant and Perodua appears to be enhancing the sporty image of its best-seller.
The facelifted King is expected to be launched in Malaysia this week (or will Indonesia get it first?) and will be packed with plenty of safety features including a more comprehensive ADAS suite that could mirror that of the Ativa’s.
Besides, this will also be the first Myvi to come with a CVT automatic, replacing the 4-speed automatic. Meanwhile, the manual transmission is likely to be dropped in this update citing poor sales.
That being said, you can expect the Myvi facelift to be pricier too with estimated prices ranging from RM 45,700 to RM 58,800. The outgoing pre-facelift, meanwhile, starts from RM 43,029 to RM 52,697.
