It looks like Honda Malaysia will be launching the Honda Connect telematics system for the Malaysian market according to its official Facebook page. The service is scheduled to be unveiled online at 8 pm on 9-March 2021.
UPDATE: It has been launched, click here to read the article.
Honda Connect is already available in Thailand since 2018 and it is fitted on selected Honda models. The service comprises three categories which are safety, security, and convenience.
For safety, there is automatic collision detection which contacts emergency services in the event of an emergency like a collision, security alarm detection, and speed alert function.
Under security, owners could set up safe zones which enables the geo-fencing alert once the vehicle leaves the pre-determined safe zone. There is also a “find my car” function that allows owners to know the location of their vehicle.
Finally, there is the convenience category. The features include starting the engine, locking and unlocking the doors, as well as turning the lights on and off from a mobile app. Besides starting your vehicle remotely, the app could also monitor the vehicle’s status and remind owners on their next service schedule.
The last we heard of Honda Connect was prior to the local launch of the all-new GN-series Honda City. Recall that during the launch, the hybrid variant RS was showcased but its prices have not been revealed.
We know that prices of the City RS could be released this week. We will just have to wait until the reveal at 8 pm to know what models will feature Honda’s telematics service.
Elsewhere, vehicle telematics system isn’t a new feature for Malaysians with Mercedes-Benz’sMercedes me connect and UMW Toyota Motor’s own Vehicle Telematics System (VTS) available on selected models.
