Following our earlier report that there are no more 2020 manufacturing year Kia Sorento and Kia Sportage models, Naza Kia Malaysia have reached out to us with a clarification on the matter.

The company says the halt in sales is only temporary. The current situation - no 2020 models of Kia Sorento and Sportage - is due to a supply disruption affecting these two models but the company is unable to divulge further regarding the specifics behind the supply disruption.

A company spokesperson says Naza Kia Malaysia is working towards a resolution so normal sales can resume as soon as possible, but adds that the current economic situation plus Covid-19 is complicating matters further so the company is unable to give an estimated timeline to resolve this.

For Kia SUV models, local dealers now only have the Kia Sorento and Sportage models manufactured in 2019. Obviously these are now being sold with additional promotions, depending on dealer.

Once supply is restored, Naza Kia Malaysia says it is looking forward to a stronger 2020. The company is poised to introduce the Honda HR-V rivalling Kia Seltos very soon, which will join the Kia Sportage and Kia Sorento.

With a three-SUV line-up – covering various segments with prices ranging from around RM 100,000 to RM 200,000, Naza Kia Malaysia believes it is in a good position to take advantage of the fast growing SUV segment.
