Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, Neta announced via its social media channels that the first batch of equipment for its Indonesian assembly plant (CKD) arrived at the facility in Bekasi, West Java.
Neta’s Indonesian distributor, PT Neta Auto Indonesia (NAI) stated that CKD production will begin in May 2024 with the Neta V as the first model to be locally assembled. In a statement, NAI also revealed that another unnamed Neta model would also be assembled at the plant which will be introduced in Q2 2024.
Neta made its Indonesian debut at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) with the Neta S and Neta U on display alongside the Neta V. Only the Neta V is sold in the archipelago with prices starting from IDR 317 million (~RM 95k).
Neta’s Indonesian plant has an annual production capacity of 27,000 units and will be the second Neta production facility in Southeast Asia after Thailand.
The Neta V is currently available in Malaysia as one of the cheapest EVs on sale in the country at RM 100,000 (on the road, without insurance). The EV is powered by a 95 PS/160 Nm electric motor juiced up by a 38.54-kWh battery that offers a 380 km range (NEDC).
Currently, the Malaysian-spec Neta V is fully imported from China but there are plans to establish CKD production in Negeri Sembilan with partner Careplus. Malaysian assembly is expected to start by the end of 2024.
