The Perodua Myvi is a hometown hero, having major success in Malaysia but not elsewhere. Still, it has been exported to a few markets overseas including Indonesia where the King is known as the Daihatsu Sirion.
Despite Daihatsu being one of the most popular brands in Indonesia, the Sirion often sits at the bottom of the Big D’s sales. It is among the cheapest in its segment but is often outsold by rivals like the Toyota Yaris and the Honda City Hatchback.
Even though sales are quite lacklustre (doesn’t help that hatchbacks aren’t popular in the archipelago to begin with), Daihatsu could be bringing in the facelifted Sirion in July 2022 according to our colleagues over at AutoFun ID.
While the Myvi is available with either a 1.3-litre or a 1.5-litre engine, its Indonesian twin is currently only available with the smaller engine. As such, the facelift will continue to be offered with one engine option but is paired to a D-CVT gearbox which replaces the 4-AT.
The unnamed source also told AutoFun that the upcoming Sirion facelift will not be offered with ADAS. The updated Myvi comes standard with the Perodua Safety Drive Assist (PSDA) ADAS suite from the 1.3 G variant onwards.
Perodua also offers the base 1.3 G variant sans PSDA and the upcoming Indo-bound Sirion facelift could mirror the same features. The reason for not offering PSDA is to keep prices low and the source adds that had the 1.5-litre variants were offered, it would be expensive as it is imported from Malaysia.
