The Perodua Myvi is the road-going King but that title only applies in Malaysia and the 2022 update further enhances its position in automotive royalty. On the other hand, the Myvi’s Indonesian twin, the Daihatsu Sirion doesn’t face the same success.
Still, the Sirion will be getting a facelift as the model is fully-imported (CBU) from Malaysia and will be launched on 2-June 2022. Units of the facelifted model were spotted in the archipelago for months now and from the looks of things, the Sirion is basically the Myvi with a D badge in its place.
It will be packed with fewer features and only one engine variant will be offered, the 1.3-litre 1NR-VE (95 PS/121 Nm) that is paired to a D-CVT automatic. According to GAIKINDO’s sales data, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) has brought in 79 units of the updated Sirion into Indonesia which comes to no surprise that at least one unit has been spotted out in the open.
These photos were uploaded by Rayhan Haikal via Instagram and the set of photos showcased not just the exterior shots but the interior too. From the outside, it looks similar to the top-of-the-range Myvi from the skirtings to the 15-inch alloy wheels albeit with a 1.3-litre unit instead of the 1.5-litre.
Inside, the Indonesian Sirion is largely similar to the Malaysian Myvi from the redesigned steering wheel to the TFT MID.
Note the absence of DRLs on the Indo Sirion
According to Indonesian automotive sleuth, Indra Fathan, two variants could be offered for the Sirion facelift. These are the 1.3 X and 1.3 R and both variants aren’t equipped with ADAS or DRLS unlike in Malaysia.
