The all-electric Honda e:NS1 has been spotted charging in Thailand, amping up speculations that it's yet another electric vehicle (EV) that's coming to our region.

Spotted by Facebook user Siri Ji, the car was seen at a charging station. Though it may just be there for initial tests, there are signs that point for this EV SUV to be launched in the ASEAN region in the near future.

It also could be a right-hand drive (RHD) car, given its front wipers' arrangement.

Prior to this, there's plans for Honda Thailand to take electrification in the Kingdom to the next level, and  part of that is reportedly the expansion of the company's Prachinburi plant to begin manufacturing EVs.

It's also said that Honda is planning to invest in an EV battery plant within the nation, in a bid to reduce impots from Japan.

New models will obviously be part of the game, and purportedly the e:NS1 will lead the pack with a Thai-market introduction later this year. An initial preview of the e:SUV Prototype was already shown back in December 2022's Thailand International Motor Expo.

The e:NS1 – currently sold in China as it is and the e:NP1, as well as in Europe as the e:Ny1 – is an EV take on the popular Honda HR-V. Beyond the post-modern looks outside, the cabin boasts a lot more digitalisation, including a fully-digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, and a 15.1-inch portrait infotainment screen.

In China, the e:NS1 is available in two powertrain configurations. One is juiced by a 53.6 kWh lithium-ion battery and an 182 PS/310 Nm electric motor, while the other has a 68.8 kWh battery, and a 204 PS/310 Nm electric motor.

Range – local CLTC figures only, for now – are 420 km and 510 km respectively. Pricing for the e:NS1 is at the CNY 175,000 (RM 115,660) to CNY 218,000 (RM 143,080) range.

The European counterpart however musters a range of 412 km on the WLTP standard, though prices are not announced just yet.
