The Mitsubishi Xforce is the Three Diamonds’ answer to the Honda HR-V in the competitive sub-compact SUV/crossover market. Just like the Xpander, the Xforce is designed primarily for developing markets with an emphasis on Southeast Asia.

The region is Mitsubishi’s most important and biggest market but at the same time, electrification efforts are on the rise. The Xforce is only available with a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine but Mitsubishi Motors’ President and CEO, Takao Kato said that there are plans for an electrified Xforce in the future.

“Yes, we have a plan for the electrification of the Xforce and it will be a hybrid. No BEV (battery-powered electric vehicle),” Kato replied to a question posed by the Malaysian media at a Q&A session following the launch of the Xforce at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).

Mitsubishi currently does not offer any hybrid models in Southeast Asia and the Xforce uses the same powertrain as the Xpander – a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre MIVEC 4-cylinder petrol unit that produces 105 PS and 141 Nm. This is paired with a CVT automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.

In Indonesia, the Xforce is available in two variants, Exceed which is priced at IDR 382.5 million (~RM 115k) and Ultimate which is priced at IDR 419.1 million (~RM 126k). The Xforce is planned to be sold in Malaysia but it won’t be launched here so soon.
