porsche cayenne 2022 Q&A Review

Which one would you buy, the 2020 Ford Bronco or the 2020 Land Rover Defender?

Ford dealers were given the most accurate and revealing information February 16th on the new Bronco. Which we now know will be revealed in March and they feel they will transform their business. We're going to cover the most recent revelations and what the Bronco needs to become a global off-road icon. Now Ford told dealers at the National Auto Dealers Association meeting that the smaller Bronco sport will be revealed in April likely at the New York Auto Show. Ford executives told dealers that they are targeting sales of 200,000 units in 2021 for the family of Broncos. That means that this won't be a one horse show like the Ranger launch let's also remember that Ford is a global brand they will incorporate features that will let the Bronco compete against iconic tough off-road brands like the Toyota including the FJ cruiser and the newly resurrected Land Rover Defender. If you look at some of the renders which take their design cues from the old Bronco and the spy shots you can see the resemblance especially with the defender. Ford wants this global market share so let's talk about the kind of features we can expect we also know that Ford has put a bullseye on Wranglers spare tire Ford patents and information from that dealer meeting almost guarantee that the Bronco will have a removable hardtop and doors and then we'll be able to store the doors and some storage space in the back. Now this is Bronco heritage but let's not forget the fold-down windshield Ford has spent a lot of time with their promos and their dollars getting us to recall the initial Bronco the fold down windshield was an original Bronco feature as well and the current spy shots show a fairly upright flat windshield. Which suggest it could be offered once again a removable hardtop just begs for a soft top and Ford has been moving aggressively into the accessory market to help their dealers make some more money. We're looking to see a fastback style soft top as an accessory option. Now this isn't an expensive option for Ford but one that virtually every Bronco owner will want With a removable hardtop we can also expect to see a weatherproof interior. Ford needs to deliver a Bronco that isn't just good enough to match the Wrangler it has to be better we know we're gonna get a solid rear axle and an independent front suspension IFS some people argue that it should have a solid front axle but the new 2020 Defender has IFS and that seems to be good enough for James Bond and it was great in the FJ Cruiser. Can you get a great articulation and traction for a solid front axle and more durability, sure. But a properly built durable IFS has better handling gives you a better ride excellent articulation and often better ground clearance and there are plenty of winners at races like King of the Hammers to prove it. Fast desert racing benefits from IFS and if you want a Bronco Raptor version it needs IFS. Wrangler has a proven iconic model in the Rubicon 51 years ago the Bronco won the 1969 Baja 1000 and the Bronco R was tested in 2019 in the same race although the results weren't quite what they'd hoped for. Look for a Bronco to appear in the stock or modify its class in 2021 and expect that a road-legal version should be available to us. Where that R stands for Raptor. There's also no question that the Bronco will come standard with stuff like steel bumpers skid plates and a rear locking differential just like the Ranger and we hope to see optional factory installed options like a winch. As we see in the tremor package currently there is a dealer installed option for the Ranger which includes a steel bumper and an off-road winch. The winch is a Ford Performance and ARB collaboration even more interesting is that we should see a locking front differential similar to a ARB's aftermarket kit which is currently available for the Ford F150 and if Ford wants to slay any doubts about the Broncos off-road cred they'll give us a factory installed ARB onboard air option we also expect to see a version of Ford's trail control system similar to the Ranger F150 Raptor andthe Tremor package for Fords heavy duty trucks. Toyota 4 runner is another strong competitor in the off-road SUV marketplace and it has Toyota's version called crawl control. Bronco test mules have been spotted with LT 315 70 R17 tires which equates to about thirty four and a half inches a nice bump over the Wrangler Rubicon with 285 70 R 17 which are about 32 and a half The larger tires from the factory should give the Bronco better approach break over and departure angles than the four door Rubicon which has 41 22 and 36 degrees respectively and 10.8 inches of ground clearance. Now Wrangler gets the Pentastar 3.6litre v6 taking out 285 horsepower and 260 pound feet of torque or you can get the 3 litre eco-design at 260 horsepower and 442 pounds of torque. Which unfortunately means the Bronco doesn't need the 3.5 litre Eco Boost to be a gas winner in this class. We expect the base model Bronco to come with a 2.3 litre inline-4 Eco Boost at 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Just like in the Ranger and hopefully we get the f-150s 2.7 litre v6 at 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. The exciting news is that Ford has also been testing a new 2.7 litre v6 gas twin-turbo engine reportedly destined for the updated Ranger right here in North America. Which also makes it a good bet for the Bronco. We don't expect a diesel engine but another good bet for 2022 is the hybrid 3.3 litre v6 electric Found in the hybrid 2020 Ford Explorerand the police res-ponders sedan. Wrangler has an affordable option and so the Bronco has to have an affordable option as well you can buy two door Wrangler Sport starting at under $30,000 US with a six-speed manual and the 3.6 litre v6 Ford offers the Ranger in a two door regular cab 4x4 with a 10 speed automatic transmission for under 30 grand as well. The bottom line is Ford likes to be the value brand meaning the Bronco in a solid performing base model should start at under $30,000 and don't be surprised if they started around 28. The Wrangler does have some weaknesses and this is where it gets really interesting the Wranglers kryptonite is towing and payload stock Wrangler JL has a max tow of 3,500 pounds and 892 pounds max payload. Which might not sound too bad but since every serious Wrangler owner customizes their Wrangler with a minimum of steel bumpers, a winch and a roof rack this reduces the payload by roughly 400 pounds add a couple of average guys and a full cooler and that'll put you overweight. Ford expects the Bronco to compete globally which means it has to not only beat the Wrangler but vehicles like the new Land Rover Defender. The Defender has a max payload 1984 pounds and a max tow of 7,200 pounds. It also has a static roof load of 660 pounds and a dynamic roof load of up to 370 pounds. We don't expect to see static and dynamic roof load numbers in the Bronco equal that to Defender and that's because the Bronco is going to have that removable top and I think that's a worthwhile trait. We know Ford loves the numbers game they want and in this case need to be at least close to best-in-class We hope the Bronco to come in over 7,000 pounds max tow and over 1,800 pounds max payload. These numbers are also better than another contender the Toyota 4 Runner which comes in at 5,000 pounds from max tow. Our hopes for the Bronco in tow and payload are that it delivers what we need to haul a decent trailer, our gear and our family into the back country. It'll be a massive game-changer for folks who want a body-on-frame, convertible, off-road capable SUV. The Bronco will be the only choice. There are some features that we don't expect in the Bronco at launch but that we hope to see in 2021 for the 2022 Broncos The Land Rover Defender, Ram Rebel, Porsche Cayenne S all have factory air ride suspension systems. providing increased ground clearance when you need it and better fuel economy when you don't. this would be a stellar option for the Bronco. Camera systems for off-road are not new and we certainly expect the Bronco to have it but the Defender has a forward-facing camera with an overlay for the tires so you know exactly how to pick your line. This would be a winning addition to the Bronco as a dedicated off-road vehicle. Expect this to be one of the most complete reveals in Ford's history. To reach sales targets the Bronco will need to appeal to core off-road enthusiasts for the credibility but it also needs to appeal to weekend adventurers who are also going to use it as a daily driver. Ford give us everything we love about the FJ Cuiser, Defender and Wrangler and a North American made product and we'll buy it. So hold on to your seat belts folks because the new Ford Bronco could be more than we hoped for and just what we deserve. What options are most important to you for the Ford Bronco? What are your reviews on the Porsche Cayenne Coupe GTS?

The GTS has always been one of our favorites versions of the Cayenne. The first one-and-a-half generations came with a big, naturally aspirated V8 engine. It sounded positively amazing and set the Porsche apart from virtually any other European SUV. Starting in 2018, the two Panamera models have a GTS version that's once again V8-motivated. We're talking about the familiar 4.0-liter twin-turbo, just one that's been asked to deliver less power - 453 hp and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque. The same engine should go into the Cayenne GTS, giving it a 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) time of about 4 seconds and a top speed of over 170 mph (274 kph). The Cayenne GTS should come out next year as a 2022 model. It's going to compete with the ,BMW X5 M50i, and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53. Audi also has a nice 500 horsepower ,SQ7 ,you can buy for $85,000. Porsche is committing the fake exhaust sin with the outer tips that are just decorative. They resemble the sports exhaust option for 911s. I personally feel the spoiler make the GTS look totally bunglesome. 🧡𝑮𝑼𝑪𝑪𝑰🧡

Would you buy a Porsche Taycan over a Tesla Model 3?

Would you buy a Porsche Taycan over a Tesla Model 3? Before the Taycan reveal, the answer was maybe. Three weeks ago, the answer was yes. Now, it’s maybe not and trending towards no. What happened? I’ve been following the Mission E concept since near the beginning. It was the first EV that really got me excited about EVs. Yes, Tesla was doing exciting things with the Model S and the Model X seemed like a cool idea, but the Mission E looked great, looked like a car that could make it to production, would have Porsche DNA, and I actually liked the looks. I know this will seem like blasphemy, but I’m just not a fan of the looks of most Porsche vehicles. So, up until 2017, I was firmly in the Porsche camp for my first EV. I anticipated it would be pricey, but I was willing to pay for it. Heck, I would subsidize it on Turo (,like I’m doing now with my Model 3,). But then, Musk during the Model 3 reveal, introduced a vehicle that would swing the needle solidly in the Tesla direction, the 2020 Tesla Roadster. A beaut, great specs, and by 2017, Musk/Tesla was developing a reputation of delivering exactly what he set out to do, even if it will end up being later than he predicted. So, now, my interests are Telsa 2020 Roadster or Porsche Mission E when it becomes a production car. In the meantime, the Model 3 came out. And blew up the EV world. And I started seeing more of them around. And they slowly grew on me. I went from “odd looking front end” and “who wants a mini Model S with less performance” to “hmm”. Then about a year ago, I noticed there was a Tesla showroom in the mall when I went to get a new phone. Then I happened to wander in one weekend when I needed to stop by the Microsoft store. The Model S was big, even after having driving my 2008 Cayenne GTS for a year by this point. The Model 3 seemed more my size and small enough that I felt my wife would feel comfortable driving it. And then I made the mistake of test driving a Model 3 performance this year on my birthday. Uggg. I spent the next two weeks running models in my mind of ways I could fix up, sell and trade in my cars to get one. Why? Because despite having owned and driven a variety of performance cars, this was the first car that upon driving it there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted one, and if I had one, I would thoroughly enjoy it. My first M3 - 50/50 that I got it. If anything weird happened or the deal fell through, I would have just let getting an M3 go. My Cayenne, similar. If it took too long to find one i liked, I would have settled for a Durango or SRT8 Cherokee. But here, I test drove a car and had zero doubts or contingencies, or anything in my mind that said “if X happens or Y doesn’t happen, I’d walk away from getting a Model 3”. So, I was convinced to get a Model 3. But decided I could hold off until late 2019 or 2020. But of course, I was constantly running numbers, looking for deals, ways to make it work ,now,. And one day after work, I tailed a Porsche Taycan out doing some highway testing. Looked great. The next day, I learned about the M3P-. Model 3 Performance Sleeper (or Stealth). Between that and the current tax credits, it all made sense. I pulled the trigger, but still had the Taycan in my back pocket. Maybe I’ll drive the Model 3 for a year and trade it in for the Taycan. I’ve had my M3P- for almost 3 weeks. Great acceleration. Rated for 310 miles range. Puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Then the Taycan unveil. The top spec Taycan Turbo S, 0 to 60 in 2.6s when using overboost, 280 miles range WLTP (which means around 240 EPA). Hmm, so bigger battery but less range than my Model 3? At least it has much better 0 to 60. How much does that cost. . . .$185k!!! That’s almost 2020 Roadster money and likely won’t ship until 2020! Hmm, are there any. . . more affordable models? Oooh, there’s a Taycan Turbo (why is it Turbo anyway?) 0 to 60 in 3s (hmm, my Model 3 is almost as quick but the Taycan can do this over and over and is a much better track car. Ok, I do want to autocross someday, but from what I’ve seen, the Model 3 in track mode would work great). Anyway, how much does this cost? $150k. Hmm, a $100k premium isn’t worth having a feature that I’d rarely use. By the time you can actually charge the Taycan at 270+ kW, Tesla would likely have 250kW charging more widely available for the Model 3. So essentially, after the reveal, the Taycan looked less and less like something I’d want to give up my Model 3 to get. Sure, there will likely be more ,affordable, models in 2020 but at this rate, the lowest spec model would still be around 2X the cost of my Model 3 with worse specs in almost every category. So, short of some major price changes, I see no reason to buy a Taycan at all. I’ll just wait until 2021 or 2022 and trade in my Model 3 for the Roadster 2.0. If like me, you’ve been bitten by the Telsa bug - ,use this link, to get whatever goodie Tesla is currently offering.
