mercedes cls tuning Q&A Review

What do you think about driving?

That's kind of a broad, vague question. Good, I like a challenge. I love driving. I always have. I love to drive fast and hard. Not reckless, although I'm sure law enforcement would disagree. They seem to have no sense of humor when it comes to the subject. I have extreme confidence in my driving abilities though my reactions aren't what they once we're, my experience and skill level makes up for that. Some things to consider. I don't know where you live but the interstates here DO scare me. I'll tell you why. Here, the speed limit is 70. Traffic in the left lane generally averages around 80 mph. This, by drivers holding the wheel with one hand, or looking at their phones or talking to their passengers. Drivers like that need not be in the left lane. That lane should be populated only by drivers who are aware of what an 80+ mph loss of control can do. Most people people are incapable of controlling a vehicle that get out of hand at 30mph let alone 80. And they sure as hell can't do anything to correct a mishap with one hand on the wheel and without a serious grasp of their location in space with regards to others on the road. They have never been on a skid pad, and in the warm states of Americas deep South, very few have any experience at correction when the g forces exceed the coefficient of friction that keeps the vehicle going in the direction God intended it to. So very few have the skill to correct a skid or slide with and modicum of success and almost all high speed corrections will become overcorrections. Which leads to another over correction. Which equals rollover and fiery vehicular death. Shit happens at speed. So even if you have a left lane travelling at 85mph and everyone is on their game, there is always the self righteous, safety concerned jerk who enters the left lane and stubbornly holds it at 70. He/she is convinced that obeying the speed limit is paramount to safely reaching their destination and refuse to yield. And they are soo wrong. If every one in the left lane was a really skilled and attentive driver, they could go 120 mph with no concern other than a mechanical failure. If and I mean IF they maintain speed. Signal properly. Keep their car maintained. And have the left lane walked off from the rest of the traveling public. Because the key to survival and less traffic and good travel time isn't low speed, it's consistent speed. When in the left lane, traffic sets the safe velocity. Not an inanimate sign with a number on it. Not a state police unit. If the speed limit is 65, the middle lane or right lane should be at or about that speed. If the left lane is rolling at 88 mph, well by God if you want to utilize that lane you'd best merge under hard acceleration and prepare to run that speed. That is the safest bet. It's unfortunate many don't see it that way. Owning and maintaining a vehicle for today's modern interstates is important. You wouldn't want to drive a Yugo at top speed for any duration in a scenario like we've been discussing. It is simply not designed for it. So we're talking well maintained sports sedans, high performance coupes, suv's and crossovers. But there's also the fact that modern vehicles have the ability to outperform the skill of the operator. That's a problem. I don't know anyone personally outside a racecar driver who could come close to using all a zr1 Corvette can do, at least on a public highway. Confidence is good, overconfidence in a ride like that is fatal. Very quickly things get out of hand. So. Since I love driving so much, could I push a car like that hard and survive? Possibly. But I've had practice. And I love to push my limits. And I would find a place to play where few if any other motorists would be in any danger other than myself. I told my wife that once I get my dream car, I'll take it out to a slick smooth piece of I l85 between Montgomery and the ATL, learn a stretch of that road to a point. Every overpass that has a bump that could make me get airborne or out of shape. Every place where I may encounter a merging car abd possible escape strategies to avoid a collusion. Then scout the road for cops while going north east before I flip around to do my run after a few pulls. My choices for my budget in the next 18 months are as follows…a 2010 zo6 Corvette with kids, Dyno tuned with about 700 up on the ground. A 2010 BMW e60 m5 with a tuned v10 with about 600 or a 2013′f10 m5 with aboutb650 hp on the ground or a Mercedes cls 300 amg with some mods. These cars are built for this kind of thing, they have massive brakes, huge accelerations, responsive suspensions and sufficient aero to provide downforce. Then as I told my wife, if I lose it I'll only kill myself but I'm gonna die smiling.doin what I love. I'd go to about 180/190 for a period than back it down. Really, the top speed is fun but the thrill for me is the acceleration. But if Mr trooper happens upon that it is his duty to save me from myself. That's part of the fun, the cat and mouse game. Still, there is only a slim to none chance if me wrecking than those fools in the left lane rolling at 60 mph It's a great sensation to be out at first light on a winding country road where you can pull some slides and power out ofthem utilizing the horsepower on tap. If you practiced and if you know your limitations as well as the vehicle. I love to drive. Fast and hard. But I don't trust others to do the same. Nor should anyone buy a vehicle and play without knowing your and your vehicles limitations.

Is there any pattern to Mercedes Benz car models? Can I figure out the difference in car based on just their models? E.g What is the difference between a CLS, CLK and a C200

Is there any pattern to Mercedes Benz car models? Can I figure out the difference in car based on just their models? E.g What is the difference between a CLS, CLK and a C200? Not so much a pattern for what the letters mean - but each of those is a different “product line” of vehicles. Basically, M-B has had 3 different “frame sizes” of RWD and 4WD cars for a long time - C, E, and S - from smallest to largest - giving them a compact, mid-size, and full-size vehicle line. Since the late 90’s, they also introduced the A and B classes, which are sub-compact FWD hatchbacks not generally seen in North America, and the CLA class in the 2010’s, a sub-compact FWD and 4WD sedan and wagon, and is sold in North America. Now things get confusing because having a “C” in the model name, doesn’t necessarily mean “C” class compact frame size. But here’s how it breaks down. C class - a line of compact RWD “executive cars” which debuted in 1986. The C-class vehicles are all based on the same platform and include a coupe (2-door), sedan (4-door), 2-door convertible (aka cabriolet) and wagon (aka estate). CLS - a 4-door coupe (yes, that’s a contradiction), or a “fastback” version of the E-Class - M-B’s mid-size platform. It’s basically a 4-door E-Class but the back window slopes from the roof to the lip of the trunk, without having a “notchback” for the trunk itself. Right now there is only a sedan available. CLA - a sub-compact line of FWD and 4WD cars which debuted in 2013 - with only a 4-door sedan model left. The wagon (aka “shooting brake”) is no longer available in the US as of 2019. CLK - a former model of 2-door coupe and cabriolet, styled to look like the E-class, but based on the C-class platform. This ran from 1997 to 2010. CL - the former name of the biggest 2-door made by M-B - basically a 2-door version of the S-Class sedan. Before 1997 it was the SEC, and since 2017 it’s called the S-Class Coupe. With all M-B models there will be a 2 or 3 digit number which represents the engine size. It’s not directly related to the displacement of the engine (i.e. C300 means a 3.0L engine) but the bigger the number, the bigger the engine. The lower-case “d” suffix, or the words BlueTEC, indicated a diesel engine. Here’s an example… C180 - 1.6L 4 cyl gasoline C300 - 2.0L 4cyl gasoline C350 - 2.0L 4cyl gasoline plus electric plug-in hybrid CLS350 - 2.0L 4cyl turbo gasoline CLS450 - 3.0L V6 turbo gasoline CLS300d - 2.0L 4cyl twin-turbo diesel The 2-digit numbers refer to cars with AMG-tuned engines. AMG is the M-B in-house high-performance brand. AMG engines are hand-built, expensive, and go like stink. CLA 45 AMG - 2.0L 4cyl twin turbo gasoline AMG C 63 - 4.0L V8 gasoline CL 73 AMG - 7.3L V12 gasoline Lastly, 4MATIC in the name means 4-wheel drive.

Is there a Mercedes Benz AMG car that performs and accelerates as a Ferrari and Lamborghini?

While the question asked for AMG tuned cars, I think the 2006 Brabus Rocket deserves a notice. Based of the CLS platform, the rocket was once the fastest production sedan in the world, hitting 60 in 3.2 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 220mph.

My 2005 Mercedes CLS (with 18" alloys) makes a lot of tyre noise on rough or harsh roads. I now need to replace all 4 tyres, so what should I buy? Which tyres are likely to be the quietest?

There will be particular versions of some premium tires that are made to Mercedes' specifications - they should be tagged with ''MO'' or M0''. These are tuned to fit the car and will probably be a better tire than a randomly chosen premium tyre that gets good albeit arguably unreliable ratings. I run MO spec Y-rated Continental Sport Contact 3s in 235/40/18s on my Audi; they are quieter and more comfortable than the 235/45/17 Pirelli Neros on my wifes Passat. They are also completely different from the otherwise identical SC3 RO1-spec tires for Audis (actually quattro gmbh) they replaced this summer - quieter and much more comfortable.

Are police cars faster than normal cars?

Most Police car equipped with latest gadgets and boosted with Turbos and tuned for high speed chasing. Lets look at various police cars used all around the world and the speed of each. Ariel Atom PL- United Kingdom Engine:, 2.0-litre Honda VTEC, 350bhp ,0-62mph:, 2.5 seconds ,Topspeed:, 155mph The Ariel Atom PL was given tothe Avon and Somerset Constabulary, England.Atom 3.5R, the PL's , Power , output has been increased from240 to 350bhp and will reach 0-62mph in an unbelievable 2.6 seconds. While it'sfully decked out in a police livery complete with blues-and-twos, it's unlikelyit'll ever be used to nick light-fingered cider enthusiasts in the area. Caparo T1-United Kingdom Engine:, 3.5-litre V6, 345bhp ,0-62mph:, 2.5 seconds ,Topspeed:, 205mph The Caparo T1 is less of a patrolcar and more of a high-speed pursuit vehicle. London’s Metropolitan Police putthe mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive two-seater into police livery. It can blastfrom 0-62mph in just 2.5 seconds, and while it’s unlikely to hit its 200mph-plustop speed in any pursuits down the Hackney Road, at least it’ll get peoplemoving out of the way. Designed by the engineers behind the McLaren F1, the Caparo won’t give offenders much chance to escape. Ford F-150 (United States) Engine: ,5.0-litreV8, 385bhp 0-62mph: ,6.6seconds Top speed: ,N/A Few vehicles are more intimidating than the massive Ford F-150pick-up - but in America, it's a staple of life, and has been the best-sellingvehicle for years. The Police Pack is available on SuperCrew and SuperCabF-150's fitted with either the 5.0-litre V8 or 3.5-litre EcoBoost engines, andis fitted with all the equipment you'd expect from a police vehicle sMercedes GLE Coupe (Australia) Engine: ,5.5-litreV8, 577bhp 0-62mph: ,4.2seconds Top speed: ,155mph Aussies love a V8, and with the GLE 63 S Coupe the Australianpolice force even get two turbochargers tacked on as a bonus! The sleek coupebody might not be the most practical for transporting prisoners, but thejacked-up ride height should make mincemeat of the rough outback roads. This isonly a loaner car, though, from Mercedes in Australia - it's part of a campaignto boost road safety in Victoria. Porsche 911 (Germany) Engine:, 3.8-litre Boxer 6cyl, 370bhp ,0-62mph:, 4.5 seconds ,Topspeed:, 186mph Porsche celebrated 50 years of its iconic ,911, sports car thisyear, and it’s likely the police in Berlin were keen to join the party withtheir 2005 model, which has been fettled by German tuner TechArt. This 370bhpmachine can cover 0-62mph in only 4.5 seconds
on the way to a 186mph top speed, and helps keep waywardBerliners on the right side of the law. Mercedes CLS Brabus Rocket (Germany) Engine:, 6.3-litre V12, 720bhp ,0-62mph:, 3.2 seconds ,Topspeed:, 227mph Not content with the911, the German authorities were also treated to this Brabus-tuned MkI ,CLS,,dubbed the Rocket. With a top speed of 227mph and 720bhp on offer, it’s nothard to see where it got its name from. Brabus has given it all the kit neededto keep the added power in check. Unlike some of our other hot cop cars, it’llalso fit a couple of offenders in the back. Lotus Evora (Italy) Engine:, 3.5-litre V6, 345bhp ,0-62mph:, 4.4 seconds ,Topspeed:, 178mph Used by Italy’snational military police, the Carabinieri, this fully liveried version of the ,Lotus Evora, has caused quite astir. It delivers 345bhp and is ,capable , of 0-62mph in 4.4seconds, so is a match for most traffic on the country’s autostrada. Lotus alsotakes care of maintenance and trains the drivers on how to handle the supercar. The Norfolk police force has taken delivery of one recently, too, but it’s forengaging the public rather than chasing crooks. Spyker C8 (Netharlands) Engine:, 4.2-litre V8, 400bhp ,0-62mph:, 4.5 seconds ,Topspeed:, 187mph This Dutch supercar was fittingly daubed in the red and bluecolours of the country’s police force. It also has a specially made stand tohold the light bar, as there’s nowhere for a standard static bar to be fitted. And the rumbling Audi-sourced V8 has would-be criminals thinking twice. Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 (Italy) Engine:, 5.2-litre V10 ,0-62mph:, 3.2s ,Topspeed:, 202mph The Italian Police didn't havelong to wait to get their hands on the new ,Lamborghini Huracan,. The fully-liveried HuracanPolizia was given to the Italian State Police by Lamborghini complete with theall important blue lights. The car's 5.2-litre V10 develops a crook-catching602bhp. Aston Martin One-77 (UAE) Engine:, 7.3 V12, 750bhp ,0-62mph: , 3.7secs ,Topspeed:, 220mph This is as special as they come from the legendary British maker. As the name suggests, the Aston Martin One-77 was a limited release of just 77 models worldwide. Beautifully hand-crafted materials and an obsessive attention to detail mark the car out. It’s no slouch, either, with 750bhp from a V12 and a top speed of 220mph. Bentley Continental GT (UAE) Engine:, 6.0 W12, 567bhp ,Topspeed:, 197mph ,0-62mph:, 4.3secs Another British car, the Bentley Continental GT is a fine choice due to its superb refinement andquality. It’s hand-made at Bentley’s famous Crewe factory, and every effort ismade to produce the perfect car, tailored to buyers’ every request. The6.0-litre W12 engine catapults the car to just shy of 200mph, and dispatchesthe 0-62mph sprint in 4.3 seconds. What is the coolest version of an otherwise uncool car?

In terms of looks, the Chevy SS for 2005. Take it, and it's not pretty. It isn't terrible for performance though. Now let's take another car. This is a 2005 Brabus CLS Rocket. Before scrolling down, guess answer these questions. What is its # of cylinders? What is their horsepower? How fast can it go? Got those answers? Now scroll down. Highly tuned Mercedes V12 from the SL-600. 730 Horse 217MPH. That's limited too. It is dubbed the "World's fastest 4-door" Now, This is an example best taken in 1977 when it was new. Saab 99, in short, junk. 1977 Saab 99 variant, before I list the part I left out, notice any visual differences? Me either, no I don't. Inside, not a thing. Under the hood, the first technical "modern" turbocharged engine. While it only added about 30 horsepower, this was in 1977 when gas was horrendous. Engines were slow. Mercedes-Benz (car company): How fast is an E55 AMG?

It’s fast, you best believe it’s fast. I’m in the market for one right now and after test driving a few E55 and CLS55 (the same m113k 5.4L Supercharged V8), I’m completely sold on the car despite its age. Truth be told for its age, it meets today’s standard as far as comfort and equipment. The way this thing accelerates is breath taking. The thing LITERALLY takes off so aggressively I love it hearing that awesome V8. Even though it has a ridiculous 469HP and 516 torque (,starting with the CLS and E class. The S class, CL class, and SL class gets a nice boost to 493 due to heavier weight of the cars),, it’s a very comfy car to drive. Equipped with heated and cooled seats, rear sunshade, sun roof, push to start, keyless entry, and parking sensors and other cool stuff. The best part about this car is the tuning potential it has, I know plenty of folks that fixed and tuned that engine up and it competes with modern performance cars today and the car is over 15 years old. If you’re in the market for one of these, it’s totally worth going for especially for how these are priced. Of course though, it’s not gonna be cheap, but hey, you gotta pay to play.
