The second generation of the Audi A3 Sedan has been unveiled with a much sharper look and new tech. Not to add confusion, but the first-gen A3 Sedan was based on the third-gen A3 hatchback.

The new A3 Sedan has grown in size, with dimensions measuring at 4,500 mm long (+40 mm), 1,820 mm wide (+20 mm), and 1,430 mm tall (+10 mm).

There are creases everywhere on the exterior to accentuate the body lines. Range topping variant gets the Matrix LED headlights, which not only look the part, it is able to brightly illuminate the road without blinding other road users by dimming the area around them.

Audi claims better aerodynamic efficiency compared to before at 0.25 Cd, 0.04 Cd lower than the previous generation.

Inside, the sharpness continues. There is a 10.1-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system (MMI Navigation Plus) with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. There is also the Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with 3 different views. A head-up display is also present.

The Audi A3 Sedan comes with a 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 150 PS/250 Nm and is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It utilizes the 48V starter generator to improve fuel efficiency and boost engine performance by up to an additional 50 Nm.

The Audi A3 Sedan is set to go on sale in Europe in summer this year. Whether it will make its way here to Malaysia is unconfirmed at the moment. We’d hazard a guess to say that it will, but earliest would be in 2021.
