If you want a clear example of the strong support enjoyed by the Honda WR-V, just look at the sales numbers – 62 percent of all Honda WR-V sold since its launch in July 2023, came from the highest specifications RS variant, which is priced from RM 107,900.

RM 107,900 is quite a lot of money to pay for a locally assembled (CKD) 1.5-litre naturally aspirated car. For reference, a non-hybrid variant Honda City powered by the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine as the WR-V tops out at RM 99,900, so there is an RM 8K premium for the SUV.

Venture beyond the Honda family, the Thailand-made Mazda CX-3, which is also a 1.5-litre SUV, starts at RM 107,920.

As much as we would like to make snide remarks about the WR-V’s lackluster interior, the high number customers placing bookings at Honda dealers nationwide is a sign that we should shut up and admit that perhaps we don’t understand customer needs as much as the team at Honda Malaysia does.
Honda Malaysia confirmed that it has since sold (bookings collected) 7,300 units of the Honda WR-V. As for vehicles delivered to customers, close to 3,300 units have been registered, as of 6-September.

The most popular colour is Meteoroid Gray Metallic, at 25 percent, followed closely by Ignite Red Metallic (24 percent) and new colour Stellar Diamond Pearl (22 percent).
To recap, the Honda WR-V is available in four variants, priced from RM 89,900 to RM 107,900. All variants are powered by the same naturally aspirated 1.5-litre 4-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine making 121 PS / 145 Nm, paired to a CVT-type automatic transmission driving the front wheels.
