The sun begins to set on the 2023Mazda CX-8, as Creative 311 reports the model will be discontinued "around August", citing dealer-shared information.
Hence, the 7-seater blank space will be filled by the 2023 Mazda CX-80; a similar three-row SUV that's positioned higher up as the brand's flagship model.
This model is earmarked to make its global debut later this year, possibly at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 that runs from 26-October to 5-November 2023.

It's likely that the same situation could happen in Malaysia, however there's not been any official word pertaining that in the meantime. However, comments shared by a Bermaz Motor spokesperson when asked about the Mazda CX-60sheds some light.
“We can’t comment on the CX-60 yet but if you look at our model line-up, you will see what all right-hand drive (RHD) Mazda models are available for sale in Malaysia," said the spokesperson.

As far as RHD markets are concerned, Australia has been confirmed to start selling the CX-80 later this year.

Pegged as the Hiroshima carmaker's flagship, the CX-80 is bound to be a tech-laden affair with Mazda's active safety suite, and Kinematic Posture Control (KPC) system to be fitted to the new SUV.
This technology was first used on the Mazda MX-5, in which the brakes are utilised to reduce the car’s body roll in corners. When cornering under high-G conditions, KPC works by applying slight brake pressure to the inner rear wheel to suppress roll and stabilise its position - essentially GVC for rear-wheel drive cars.
Powertrain options, depending on markets, is said to range between a 6-cylinder regular combustion engine, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and a 48V mild-hybrid. Rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive setups are also part of the equation.
