The all-new Isuzu D-Max is absolutely owning it in most regional markets. After taking over half the market share in Thailand for the month of June 2022, it’s racked up 4,237 new registrations from January to June this year in Malaysia, marking a whopping 143 percent growth over the same period in 2021.

Additionally, the volume in the first half of this year is already knocking on the door of the 4,601-unit total they achieved throughout the whole of 2021. Not only does it move them up to third spot in the pick-up segment here, it sets the company up for a record-breaking year.

The Japanese truck redefined the way pick-up trucks look, feel and perform when the third-generation D-max was introduced recently. Isuzu has been able to engineer greater capabilities into these trucks while refining its comfort, safety and driving pleasure.

“Since the introduction of the all-new Isuzu D-Max, we have seen a growing interest in pick-up truck usage, particularly from first-time buyers and upgraders who have been impressed by the way the new D-Max has blurred the lines between a tough and capable pick-up truck and the comfort and sophistication of a family saloon,” said Chief Executive Officer Shunsuke Okazoe.

With its remarkably flexible engine performance, exemplary fuel efficiency, clockwork reliability and the commanding the lowest road tax in the market, the 1.9-litre Blue Power variants have undoubtedly been the most popular choice among Malaysians, accounting for close to 80 percent of the total.

The flagship X-Terrain variant has made tremendous inroads as well, making up ten percent of the total volume. This is a significant achievement for Isuzu considering that it has never had a strong offering in the lifestyle segment all this while, concentrating on dependable workhorses in its earlier iterations.

“The X-Terrain has gained a strong following particularly among urban users.
