The Ford Fiesta 1.4 Tdci is an excellent engine and depending upon the present condition of the engine, if more details are shared about, it we could give our professional advise. Also you should have a good mechanic and a lathe whonis willing to do the job. Also first get a list of the spares availability like the bearings, piston and rings, valves, guides, cam shaft etc
Firstly, it depends how you drive it and how you look after it. Drive it sensibly and you'll get better life out of it, drive it hard and it wint last as long, even though the 1.4TDCI is a tough little cookie. Regular servicing and maintenance checks will keep it going way past the 200k mark. Cambelt should be done around 80-100k miles, Check your oil and water every week or at bare minimum every month if you dont use it that much Oil and filter change every 10k miles Air and fuel filter change every year Prevention is better than the cure, it doesnt take the brains of an archbishop to realise if you look after something it will last longer.
ive seen that engine in Fiesta vans with double that mileage on. use the correct oil, change it as per manufacturer intervals (time or mileage whichever is FIRST) and the car will probably rust away before the engine fails.
#1 — that this is NOT the type of question that requires anonymity #2 — that it's an underpowered Ford. #3 — that it's an underpowered USED Ford
Ford Engines can last 3,00,000Kms if maintained properly. as you’ve mentioned that the car is well maintained single owner vehicle, so you can rely. But you need to spend for wear and tear parts frequently..
You need to get estimates from shops close to you. You don’t say were you are and all costs are location specific.
Yes. This is also true for most cars built in the last 25 to 30 years. When I was a young child, around 1970, more or less any car with more than 50,000 miles on the clock was considered an old banger. Even by 1980, this had probably only risen to 80,000 but between 1980 and 1990 manufacturing processes improved so much that most cars could do twice that 1980 number or more. By 2000, I reckon that the main cause of scrapping a car was nothing to do with the engine or rust but to do with decrepit interiors and failing electrics. My car is a 2006 Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi and it has more or less no rust and the engine is fine with 160,000 miles on the clock. It is weird little things that fail, like the switch that makes the rear screen wiper activate when I put it in reverse. When there are enough of these little niggles, it will probably be too expensive to repair them and driving the car will cease to be enjoyable. It will be time to get another. However, I may well get a few more years out of it; it got through its MOT earlier this month without needing any work.
