The 5-door Suzuki Jimny is confirmed to launch in Indonesia on 15-February 2024, coinciding with the first day of the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024. PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) began accepting pre-orders for the Jimny 5-door from early January 2024, to encouraging response, reports Autofun.co.id.
"We have opened pre-orders for the Jimny 5-door since early January 2024. We have received a lot of positive feedback since the opening of pre-orders," said Harold Donnel, 4W Marketing & Business Strategy Director of PT SIS during the Suzuki Media Gathering 2024 in the country on Tuesday.
Harold added that since the opening of pre-orders, "hundreds of units" of the Jimny 5-door have already been booked. He highlighted the enthusiastic response, drawing parallels with the excitement during the pre-order phase of the 3-door Jimny in 2019.
"The enthusiasm for both the 3-door Jimny when it was first open for pre-orders in 2019 and the 5-door is equally exciting. Up to now, there have been hundreds of pre-orders for the Jimny 5-door since the opening of pre-orders in early January. The reception for the Jimny 5-door is extraordinary, and we know that the Jimny itself has been legendary in Indonesia since the 80s," he explained.
Similar to the 3-door version, the 5-door Jimny can accommodate four people, although they cater to different market segments. Compared to the 3-door version, the 5-door has a wider wheelbase and an additional door in the middle, along with rear windows on each side.
It'll be powered by the same K15B naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, making 105 PS and 134 Nm. Available with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic, it comes with Suzuki's All Grip Pro all-wheel drive system.
In Malaysia, the Suzuki Jimny is solely available in the regular 3-door version, priced from RM 174,900.
