Last week, Bermaz Motor, the official distributor of Mazda vehicles in Malaysia unveiled the 2024 Mazda 2 facelift in the country. Available as a sedan or a hatchback, the Mazda 2 receives a more aggressive-looking front end which was unveiled earlier in Thailand and Japan.

There is essentially only one variant offered across the two body styles. Fully imported (CBU) from Thailand, the sedan and hatchback are equally priced and share identical specifications.

These are the prices for Mazda’s entry-level model in Malaysia (Peninsular Malaysia, OTR w/o insurance):

• Mazda 2 1.5L Sedan/Hatchback High – RM 108,670
• Mazda 2 1.5L Sedan/Hatchback (Soul Red Crystal) – RM 109,170

In terms of powertrains, only one engine and transmission are offered for both the Mazda 2 Sedan and Mazda 2 Hatchback:

• Naturally aspirated 1.5-litre Skyactiv-G petrol 4-cylinder (114 PS/149 Nm)
• Skyactiv-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission

Standard features across the MY-spec Mazda 2 include:

• 16-inch alloy wheels
• Automatic LED headlights
• LED daytime running lights (DRLs)
• Automatic windshield wipers
• Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry
• Autofold side mirrors
• Black & Chrome radiator grille
• Auto-dimming rear-view mirror
• Paddle shifters
• Leatherette and suede (Black with Red Stitching) seats
• Single-zone automatic air-conditioning
• 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system
• Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

As for safety features, both the Mazda 2 Sedan and Hatchback come standard with:

• A pair of front airbags
• Anti-lock brakes (ABS)
• Electronic brake-force distribution (EBD)
• Dynamic stability control (DSC)
• Traction control system (TCS)

Besides Soul Red Crystal which is a RM 500 premium, the Mazda 2 is also available in Platinum Quartz and Snowflake White Pearl. Aero Gray is only available on the Mazda 2 Sedan while Polymetal Gray and Airstream Blue are exclusively offered on the Mazda 2 Hatchback.

Bookings for the 2024 Mazda 2 facelift are now officially open at all Mazda showrooms nationwide and come with a 5-year/100,000-km Manufacturer’s Warranty and 5-year/100,000-km Free Maintenance.
