Proton has had a stellar start to 2024, posting its strongest 1st-month of sales since 2013 with 12,882 units (domestic and export) delivered in January.
The figures mark a 1.3 percent jump versus sales in December 2023 (with 12,711 units) and a significant 10.3 percent improvement versus the same period last year. Proton estimates its market share for January to be 19.5 percent, 3.3 percent higher compared to December 2023.
Roslan Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer, Proton Edar, CEO of Proton Edar added, “Currently, many project Malaysian automotive sales to contract in 2024 after a record-setting year in 2023 due to factors such as increase in SST as well as the introduction of the luxury goods tax. Proton however remains optimistic our strong start to the year will set the tone for the next 11 months as we target more sales growth with our continued focus on innovation, quality and customer service.”
