Mazda CX-3 line-up in Malaysia now includes an entry-level 1.5L Core variant
Prices now start from RM 108k
Would you consider this over the entry-level Honda HR-V?
Bermaz Motor, the official distributor of Mazda vehicles in Malaysia, has quietly updated the Mazda CX-3 range in Malaysia with the inclusion of a new 1.5-litre entry-level Core variant, as well as a mid-spec 2.0-litre Core variant. These two new variants join the top-spec 2.0 High in Bermaz Motor’s CX-3 line-up.
The updated 2022 Mazda CX-3 range is now imported from Thailand, instead of Japan.
The introduction of the new entry-level 1.5-litre CX-3 means that the starting price of the Mazda CX-3 now start from RM 107,870, RM 23,489 less than the top-spec CX-3 2.0 High variant. The new CX-3 2.0 Core variant is priced from RM 118,159, while the top-spec Mazda CX-3 is priced from RM 131,359.
At the heart of the new CX-3 1.5 is the same naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine found in the Mazda 2, outputting 115 PS and 149 Nm. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Seeing that this new CX-3 1.5L is the entry-level variant, its feature set also reflects its positioning. Standard kit include:
Halogen headlights
Bulb-type daytime running lights (DRLs)
Bulb-type tail lights
Keyless entry with engine push start button
16-inch alloy wheels
Electric parking brake (EPB)
Leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls
Fabric seats
8-inch infotainment display
Android Auto & Apple CarPlay
6 speakers
Reverse camera
2 airbags
Stability control, traction control
As mentioned earlier, the CX-3 1.5L is joined by a new mid-spec 2.0L variant. The latter swaps out the 1.5-litre engine for a larger 2.0-litre unit, whilst retaining the 1.5L’s equipment.
We've also attached photos of the updated Mazda CX-3's VIN, which further cements the notion that the model is now imported from Thailand.
What do you think of this new Mazda CX-3? Would you pick this over the recently-launched Honda HR-V?
