UMW Toyota Motor's Beyond Zero event – running from now all the way to 28-February in Bukit Jalil – is perhaps the single best demonstration of Toyota's multi-pathway mobility strategy our nation has seen thus far, housing multiple interesting concept and production models under one roof.
Interspersed among the Camry Hybrids and Mirais is this pair of the 2024 Toyota Alphard Hybrid and 2024 Toyota Vellfire Hybrid; the first time electrified variants of these popular people movers are seen in Malaysia.
The imported twins (CBU Japan) sport a series-parallel hybrid system comprising of a 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated Dynamic Force engine paired to an electric motor and battery. The end result is a combined system output of 250 PS, with drive sent to the front-wheels (FWD) via an electronic CVT (e-CVT).
Other than the powertrain, features and specs don't differ too much from the duo offered officially in Malaysia. There's genuine Nappa leather upholstery for the Alphard, uzuramoku wood veneer detailing, and JBL audio, as well as the Executive Lounge VIP seats.
Meanwhile, the Vellfire Hybrid is seen here with a very bright brown colourway inside, something that's not offered in the Malaysian-spec car as of now.
The big question then – will this be launching soon? No word has been said of its official sales timeline here for now, so it will be a bit of waiting game to see how things pan out for the twins as time goes on.
For the time being though, UMW Toyota Motor sells the regular, non-electrified Alphard and Vellfire. The Vellfire 2.5-litre NA (182 PS / 235 Nm, CVT) is priced from RM 438,000, while the Alphard 2.4-litre turbo (278 PS / 430 Nm, 8AT) starts from RM 538,000.
Members of the public who would like to attend the event are encouraged to register here first.
