UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) is showcasing the Toyota Camry Hybrid at the ongoing Beyond Zero event, held at Technology Park Malaysia from today until 28-February.

The hybrid variant shown at the event is a Thailand-imported unit, which has an Atkinson-cycle 2.5-litre Dynamic Force engine, producing 178 PS and 221 Nm, combined with an electronic CVT (E-CVT) and an electric motor delivering 120 PS and 202 Nm. This results in a total system output of 211 PS.

Details on the specifications are scarce, with only the rear seat control panel on the armrest and the power-reclining rear seats highlighted.

Previously, it was displayed during UMWT’s multi-pathway strategy briefing last year in May, the same unit is currently on display at the Beyond Zero event. The local-spec Camry is fully imported from Thailand, suggesting the possibility of introducing the hybrid variant.

Currently, the Toyota Camry is offered in a single 2.5V variant powered by a Dynamic Force A25A-FKS 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder engine generating 209 PS/253 Nm, paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Prices start from RM 219,800 on-the-road without insurance.
