Proton Holdings now partners Rancon Cars Limited, which serves as the exclusive distributor and assembler of the marque's models there. Prior to this, it was PHP Automobiles, which also assembled the Proton Saga, X70, and Persona at their Chittagong plant.

On this new partnership with Rancon, Proton's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Li Chunrong, said that the Bangladeshi company will be establishing a sales and aftersales network, as well as investing in a facility to assemble Proton cars.

“With more offerings coming in the near future, we look forward to being a major player in the country’s automotive market,” said Dr Li.

Meanwhile, Rancon has already invested USD 100 million (~RM 454 million) within its own Industrial Park in Bangladesh, ahead of the company's plans to commence local assembly of Proton vehicles there by end-2024.

On the X90, specifications are similar to what we have here in Malaysia, except only two variants are sold there - the 7-seater Premium priced from BDT 4.59 million (~RM 199k), and the 6-seater Flagship, priced from BDT 4.99 million (~RM 217k).

Both are equipped with the 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system, good for 190 PS and 300 Nm of torque.
