The Proton X90, the Malaysian carmaker’s first mild-hybrid (MHEV) model, is teased to make its export debut outside of Malaysia in the tropical island nation of Mauritius.
No further details on which variants are going to be offered there nor a launch date announcement but suffice it to say that the Mauritian-spec X90 will be fully imported (CBU) from Malaysia like the X50 and the X70 which are currently sold there.
Back home, the Proton X90 has won over buyers and is Malaysia’s best-selling D-segment SUV according to Proton’s June sales data with 1,082 units delivered in its first full month of sales.
The X90 is available in 4 variants, all of which are powered by an MHEV system that combines a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder TGDi engine with a 48V belt-driven starter generator that makes a combined output of 190 PS and 300 Nm.
All variants aside from the Flagship offer 7 seats while the top-of-the-line variant comes with 6 seats with the middle row occupied by a couple of captain chairs.
