Lexus has sold over 5 million luxury SUVs and crossovers to date

After 31 years in the luxury vehicle business, Lexus is proud to have achieved a new milestone. As of the summer of 2020, the company has since sold 5 million SUVs and crossovers globally.

The first SUV that Lexus first introduced was the Lexus LX back in 1996, but it wasn’t before the RX launched in 1998 that the company’s luxury SUV took off and quickly became a household name. 

In many ways, Lexus is the first luxury brand to start offering consumers with luxury SUVs. Now, SUV sales make up about two-thirds of Lexus’ total sales and the brand is offered in 90 markets around the world.

Since finding their niche, the company has expanded more into the SUV market and introduced cars like the Lexus GX, Lexus NX, and, most recently, the Lexus UX.

After years of creating luxury SUVs, Lexus SUVs are now known for their unique blend of bold design, Lexus craftsmanship and sophisticated technology.

But Lexus didn’t stop there, the company started expanding their engine options as well. Since the launch of the RX 400h hybrid in 2005, Lexus now offers a hybrid powertrain for every SUV model in their line-up.
