Proton has recorded its best ever first-half sales performance since 2012. After a strong month in June with 14,351 units sold, Proton's total sales tally for the first six months of 2023 totalled 77,321 units.
This represents a remarkable 28.6 percent increase compared to same period in 2022, and surpasses the industry's overall sales growth by more than three times.
Proton's market share for June is estimated to be 23.2 percent, and the year-to-date market share has increased to 21.3 percent, showing a 3.2 percent improvement over the same period in 2022.
The recently launched Proton X90 has proved a major hit with customers. In its first full month of sales, Proton’s first 6-/7-seater SUV notched up deliveries of 1,082 units, instantly making it the top-selling D-segment SUV in the Malaysian market.

Another standout performer was the Proton Persona, which sold 2,254 units in June, despite facing competition from newer and more expensive rivals, the Persona achieved an impressive sales growth of 79.4 percent.

Arvind can't remember a time when he didn't wheel around a HotWheels car. This love evolved into an interest in Tamiya and RC cars and finally the real deal 1:1 scale stuff. Passion finally lead to formal training in Mechanical Engineering. Instead of the bigger picture, he obsesses with the final drive ratio and spring rates of cars and spends the weekends wondering why a Perodua Myvi is so fast.
