We recognise it here as the Toyota Vios but over in Thailand, it works under the name of the Toyota Yaris Ativ. Regardless of what it’s called, it’s the best-selling B-segment sedan in Thailand for June 2023 with 28,319 units sold for a whopping 57 percent market share.

That’s over 3 times more sales than its next closest rival, the Honda City.

A distance second, VTEC failed to kick in for the City this time around with only 9,513 units spoken for, or just 19.2 percent of the market share.

Nonetheless, it's not all doom and gloom for the City as the temporary lull in City sales can be attributed to switching over to the City facelift launched there recently. Customers interested in the City would undoubtedly hold off and wait for the facelift.

After these big 2 players in the segment, the rest are just filling in the gaps as the underrated Nissan Almera completes the top 3, having sold 3,558 units for a market share of 7.2 percent.

Completing the field are the following cars:

• 4th place MG 5 - 3,225 units, 6.5 percent market share
• 5th place Mazda 2 Sedan - 2,695 units, 5.4 percent market share
• 6th place Mitsubishi Attrage - 2,050 units, 4.1 percent market share
• 7th place Suzuki Ciaz - 285 cars, 0.6 percent market share

That brings the B-segment sedan total in Thailand for June 2023 to 49,645 units.
