Specifications for the all-new Toyota Corolla Altis revealed

Ahead of the all-new Toyota Corolla’s debut, UMW Toyota Motor has released the preliminary specifications of units bound for Malaysia.

Unlike the predecessor model, the all-new Corolla will feature just one powertrain – a carried over 1.8-litre 2ZR-FE four-cylinder petrol engine with Dual VVT-i, paired to a CVT-type automatic that sends power to the front wheels. The engine is good for 139 PS at 6,400 rpm and 172 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.

Updated Mazda 6 range now on sale

Bermaz Motor has introduced the updated Mazda 6 in Malaysia. Specifications have been improved (upgraded infotainment and GVC Plus) but prices have also gone up by quite a bit, no doubt due to the weakening Ringgit (the 6 is imported from Japan). 

Apart from the addition of GVC Plus, the updated Mazda 6 now receives Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, allowing for the integration of Google Maps, Waze, and Spotify.

The 8th-gen Hyundai Sonata display at the Hyundai Training Academy

The Hyundai Sonata is a familiar name to Malaysians but unfortunately, the slowing demands for D-segment sedans made local distributor Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM), to discontinue this model.

So, what is this eight-generation Hyundai Sonata doing on Malaysian soil? Well, it’s a display car owned by Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), which has nothing to do with HSDM. HMC operates a regional training centre which sometimes has the Korean carmaker’s latest and greatest on display. More often than not are models that are not available to the local market.

More than half of all Volvo cars assembled in Shah Alam are exported

Close to sixty percent of all Volvo vehicles assembled at the Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia (VCMM) plant in Shah Alam are exported, said Volvo Car Malaysia’s Managing Director Nalin Jain.

Speaking at the opening of Volvo Car Malaysia’s newest 3S centre in Mutiara Damansara, Jain also added that Volvo Car is one of Malaysia’s biggest car exporters and thanked the government’s support for local manufacturers.

2019 Mazda CX-5 2.5L Turbo now open for booking

Bermaz Motor is now accepting orders for the updated 2019 Mazda CX-5 and that includes the highly anticipated 2.5L Turbo variant.

Volvo Car Malaysia launches new 3S centre in Mutiara Damansara

Volvo Car Malaysia today launched its newest 3S centre in Mutiara Damansara with its dealer-partner Ingress Swede Automobile Sdn Bhd (Ingress Swede).

The new 3S centre features a showroom and service centre that has been built to comply to Volvo Cars’ latest retail standard – Volvo Retail Experience (VRE).

Mercedes-Maybach to create Cullinan fighting GLS-Class

For now, the Rolls Royce Cullinan is the most luxurious SUV in the BMW Group with a $300,000 price tag. However, this will be changed very soon for its segment is jam-packed with SUVs at the moment and BMW Group is going to make it even more crowded.

One of the upcoming vehicles to enter this segment is said to be Mercedes-Maybach, which will be based on the all-new GLS-Class, and is similar to the Mercedes-Maybach 6 Coupé from a couple of years ago. According to Autocar, this upcoming GLS-based Mercedes-Maybach will share a lot of body work with the original car but with a new grille, new headlights and new taillights.
