The upcoming Proton S50 (or will it be called S70?) has once again been spotted on public roads.

Clear images sent in by reader Putra Kamrin Azran show the sedan cruising the roads of Subang Jaya this time, covered in its familiar camouflage wrap, not too far from Proton's headquarters.

Based on the all-new, fourth-generation Geely Emgrand the Proton S50 is rumoured to be Proton's most powerful sedan in recent times (put aside the discontinued Proton Perdana)  - featuring the same turbocharged 1.5-litre powertrain as the X50, which delivers 150 PS and 226 Nm.

However, this remains to be confirmed as the Geely Emgrand is also available with a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre in other markets, such as China and the Philippines.

Previous sightings have revealed some interesting hints about the car's features, which confirmed the availability of ACC, LED turn signals and a sunroof.

Though these images do not reveal any new clues, it does take us closer to the side of the S50, revealing the strong waistline of the vehicle, that runs the length of the flanks.

Of course, with more sightings, comes more conjecture on the S50 launch, however, since Proton has just commenced production of the Proton X90 earlier this year, it’s pretty unlikely for Proton’s Tanjung Malim plant to phase in another all-new model so soon.

Thus, it is likely Proton S50 will only be introduced in 2024. It will be a spiritual successor to the C-segment Proton Preve but its price will likely be in the range of the B-segment Toyota Vios and Honda City.
