Another lockdown means another round of working from home for most of us. Some might pass the time by building Tamiya models or making another round of Dalgona coffee (wait, it’s no longer trendy?).
But if you don’t have the required crafting skills, you could check out this relaxing video of a Ford Ranger Raptor made entirely out of wood.
It’s not as large as the real thing, but it could be the perfect gift for our buddy who got scammed recently. This wonderfully-detailed Ranger Raptor was made by a YouTuber and artist who goes by Woodworking Art.
The artist didn’t just stop in making an accurate to-scale recreation of the pick-up truck down to the large Ford grille and tyres. The doors, the hood, and the tailgate can be opened and even the suspension works!
The whole body starts from a single block of wood and the video shows how meticulous the process of creation is. The artist chisels away the block before slowly refining its shape for the distinct curves of the pick-up.
Then he carves out the finer details of the truck, from the front bumper to the lines on the doors, to the engine. Even though the doors are operational, the interior is bare. It's still a very good effort overall.
Next comes the suspension, which is probably the most impressive of the build. Again, the components are also made out of wood which includes the front suspension and steering components. Indeed, this thing turns as seen in our cover photo.
Woodworking is always thought of as a simple art that is used to make statues but rarely a model car. The YouTube channel has also produced other woodworking car models which include a Toyota Hilux, a Honda CR-V, and a classic Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
Traded advertising for a career that fits his passion for cars. Enjoys spotting cars during his free time and has a soft spot for Japanese Kei cars but drives a thirsty manual sedan.
