BMW Malaysia has launched the 2020 BMW X3 M Competition, priced at RM 886,551 (OTR without insurance, inclusive of SST discount). The BMW X3 M Competition goes against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLC 63 and Porsche Macan Turbo.

At the heart of the BMW X3 M sits a new S58 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six, producing 510 PS and 600 Nm. An 8-speed automatic transmission deploys the horses to all four wheels via the M xDrive all-wheel drive system.

Unlike the system on the F90 BMW M5, there is no rear-wheel drive only option. But there is a 4WD Sport mode that is more rear-biased.

0-100 km/h is done and dusted in 4.1 seconds, keep the accelerator pinned and it’ll hit a limited top speed of 250 km/h. 

Being a Competition model, the trim elements receive a gloss black finish, including the mirror caps, gills at the side, kidney grille, and trims surround the front air vents.

Adaptive LED headlights comes as standard. Wheels are 21-inch units wrapped with 255/40 ZR20 at the front, 265/40 ZR20 at the rear.

Under the skin lies reworked suspension components for greater precision in wheel location and directional stability. There’s a higher degree of negative front camber and the rear gets a stiffer camber arm. Plus, stiffer anti-roll bars and M-specific rubber mounts.

Complementing the bespoke suspension parts are adaptive dampers with three selectable settings. Plus, a variable ratio M Servotronic electric power steering.

Brakes are M compound units with discs measuring 395 mm at the front clamped by 4-piston calipers, and 370 mm at the rear clamped by single-piston calipers.

Moving inside, there are two buttons on the M-specific steering wheel that can configured to the driver’s liking. The parameters of adjustment include the engine, transmission, stability control system, and suspension damping.

There’s also M-specific digital instrument display, M Sport seats, seat beats with M-colour stitching, M selector lever and carbon fibre trim drizzled around the cabin.

Safety wise, it comes with the Driving Assitance Plus package, which bundles AEB, BSM, RCTA, LDW, Active Cruise Control with Stop and Go function.

Colour offerings include Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Donington Grey, Phytonic Blue, Sophisto Grey and the new Toronto Red. Depending on the selected exterior offering, the BMW X3 M Competition can be furnished with exquisite Leather Merino interior upholstery in Black, Sakhir Orange or Adelaide Grey.
