A favourite among Malaysians who deemed themselves with the title of very important, the Toyota Alphard has reportedly ended its sale over here and in Japan. With rumours that a new generation is approaching, leave it to the internet to produce valuable info on what is to come with the all-new Alphard.

Leaked footage of the upcoming 4th-gen Alphard was apparently taken at what could be a staff training session in China and uploaded to Chinese social media site, Xiao Hong Shu.

The video clearly shows the rear and rear quarter design of the all-new Alphard, which is largely similar to the outgoing AH30 generation. At the rear, the taillights have a more sleek appearance and seem to be LED.

The Alphard script is also now placed on the centre of the tailgate just below the Toyota ellipses badge.

As for the side, the all-new Alphard also retains the trademark angled B-pillar chrome garnish but it also appears that the front waistline is lower than the rear.

The footage does not reveal the front design but it could be likely that the shield-looking front grille from previous generations of the Alphard could be carried over into the next generation.

However, there is plenty of footage revealing the interior of the all-new Alphard and it appears more modern. Sitting in the middle of the dashboard is a wide floating touchscreen infotainment screen which Japanese media speculated could be the 14-inch head unit like the one used on the all-new Lexus RX.

Down on the centre console, the all-new Alphard appears to be using a new lever-style gear shifter design. The shift operating layout is similar to the one used on the all-new Toyota Prius or Crown which replaces the gated shift mechanism of the AH30 Alphard.

The leaked video also showed the fully-digital driver instrument display and the steering wheel might look devoid of physical buttons. Instead, it is speculated that the buttons on the wheel are touch-sensitive controls like those seen on Mercedes-Benz but there also appear to be some dials just below the infotainment screen to control the A/C temperature and speed.

But the all-new Alphard’s biggest draw inside is reserved for rear occupants. A pair of captain chairs occupy the second row and in the footage, the seats are covered in brown leather for that extra level of class. It remains to be seen whether black leather would also be offered for the all-new Alphard.

In the middle of the second row, there are two touch-panel pads which could be used to adjust the rear air-cond and seats as well as activate the ventilated or heated seats. That could elevate the business class level of luxury for those VIPs in their luxurious breadvans.

Another treat for rear occupants is the individual moonroofs above This is reminiscent of the old Toyota TownAce/Master Ace Surf vans of the 1980s and 1990s.

Judging by the leaked preview footage of the interior of the all-new Alphard, Malaysian VIPs could be looking forward to line-up in front of their favourite recond dealers in droves. The all-new Alphard would be sitting on the TNGA-K platform and could be powered by turbocharged petrol and petrol-electric hybrid Dynamic Force engines.

The all-new Alphard could be making its debut in Japan by May while orders for the outgoing Alphard and Vellfire have been stopped in Japan and have been discontinued in Malaysia. Speaking of the Vellfire, the nameplate could be meeting its end with the next-generation Alphard likely being a standalone model.
