The facelifted 2023 Toyota Corolla Altis has landed in Taiwan and it brings with it some notable changes.
Chief amongst which is the discontinuation of the multi-link rear suspension setup on the petrol variants, replaced by a simpler torsion beam unit.
For the Taiwanese market, the torsion beam rear suspension is now the default choice for all 3 petrol variants of the facelifted Corolla Altis; the multi-link rear suspension is maintained on the GR Sport and Hybrid variants.

Speaking of variants, Hotai Motors, the official distributor of Toyota models in Taiwan, offers 7 variants of the facelifted Corolla Altis, made up by 4 petrol variants and 3 hybrid variants.
Prices start from TWD 725,000 (~RM 105k) for the entry-level petrol variant and tops out at TWD 930,000 (~RM 135k) for the GR Sport Hybrid variant.
The petrol variants are powered by a familiar naturally-aspirated 1.8-litre 2ZR-FE 4-cylinder petrol engine that does 140 PS and 171 Nm, mated to a CVT automatic transmission.
In addition to that is a petrol-electric hybrid that features a 1.8-litre petrol engine mated to a two-motor full-hybrid system, allowing for a combined system output of 122 PS. Yes, these figures are identical to our Malaysian-spec Corolla Cross Hybrid.
Standard equipment on the Taiwanese-spec Corolla Altis facelift include the LED tail lights, leather upholstery, rear air-cond vents, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 ADAS suite, active cornering assist (ACA), and 7 airbags.
The GR Sport variant continues here, available as a regular petrol variant or hybrid variant. As before, the GR Sport-kitted Corolla Altis gets a bespoke exterior package, chassis enhancements, and interior upgrades.
