The Mazda CX-60, one of Mazda’s rear-wheel drive (RWD), longitudinal engine SUVs under the Hiroshima carmaker’s Large Product Group of models was launched in Singapore back in July 2023.
At the ongoing Singapore Motorshow 2024, Auto Eurokars, Mazda’s Singaporean distributor has one on display and we take a closer look at this premium SUV. Sitting above the CX-5, only one variant of the CX-60 is offered in the Little Red Dot:
- CX-60 2.5L Luxury – SGD 269,888 (~RM 942k)
It is worth noting that the CX-60 is also available with an inline-six mild-hybrid (MHEV) powertrain and in ASEAN, this unit is offered in Indonesia and the Philippines.
The naturally aspirated 2.5-litre unit in the Singaporean-spec CX-60 is a longitudinal 4-cylinder Skyactiv-G petrol unit that produces 191 PS and 261 Nm. This is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels, effectively putting it on the same level as the premium German SUVs including the likes of the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
By comparison, the turbocharged 3.3-litre inline-6 e-Skyactiv G MHEV powertrain produces 280 PS and 450 Nm. In Indonesia, that powerplant is also mated to an 8-speed automatic but power is delivered to all 4 wheels (AWD) only.

The SG-spec CX-60 is chock full of features including 20-inch aluminium wheels, a power sliding panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, and a Bose premium sound system with 12 speakers.
Advanced safety features offered in the CX-60 include:
- Adaptive LED headlights (ALH)
- Blind-spot monitoring (BSM) and rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA)
- Front cross traffic alert (FCTA)
- Smart brake support (SBS)
- Lane keep assist (LKAS)
- Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC)
Back in Malaysia, Mazda’s Malaysian distributor Bermaz, is conducting feasibility studies for the Mazda CX-60. A Bermaz spokesperson said, “We can’t comment on the CX-60 yet but if you look at our model line-up, you will see what all right-hand drive Mazda models are available for sale in Malaysia.”

All that remains to be seen is when it will arrive here along with which powertrains could be offered. Could the Malaysian-spec CX-60 be only offered with a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder NA like Singapore, a 6-cylinder MHEV like Indonesia and the Philippines, or even both?
Additionally, the Japanese-spec CX-60 is also offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, a diesel unit, and a hybrid diesel powerplant.
